What are these wires for? (1 Viewer)

I think that...

In my pic, the bottom right sensor (kind of hidden) is the forward knock sensor. There's another one by the PHH.

The top left (kind of out of the picture) is the sending unit for the coolant gauge.

The top right (green connector) is the coolant temp sensor for the ECM.

The one you're asking about... I have no idea!

Am I close?

That is the probably the a/c high temp disconnect. Does your a/c work? I thought the compressor signal feeds through it normally open

I bought the truck with a thrown rod and noticed this connector disconnected. P.O. states A/C worked when it died.

I found another plug today that I'm curious about. It's located by the firewall on the passenger side. What does it go to?

Bump on this plug and I repaired the headlight harness tonight. Using some terminal extractor tools and a pick to remove the plug wire seal, I carefully got around the orange seal to pull it out and get access to the terminal. Going on the back side of the plug, push in the plastic to release the plug. The first one I did was very stubborn and took out some of the plastic, but the second one went perfect. Once the terminals are removed, I removed the orange seal so that the heat shrink would fit. Slid the heat shrink down over the exposed wire and heated it with the solder iron. Did both and tucked it back in the conduit. Replaced the orange seal and refitted the plug. The taped cut section of conduit with cold weld electrical tape and buttoned it back up. All repaired!

Sorry this isn't helpful but I have both a 1993 and 1994 cruiser

You cannot imagine how many open connectors are on the 1993 that are not on my 1994. Here is an example and I could do this 4-5 more times

Thanks. With all the overseas options and accessories it makes me especially curious what all is prewired in the harness now that I'm new to 80's.

Lol the rabbit hole is what I call it

Let's start from easy to hard (and guys please chime in)

-Center lock diff switch (done)
-The throttle hand control (done)
-oh sh!t grab bar on dash (I'm 50/50 on this)
-The head lamp washers (not sure as parts are scarce and no one talks about it)
-The electronic folding mirrors (not sure as parts are scarce and no one talks about it)
- e lockers if you don't have it (thanks retrofive)
-The Australian sub tank (extra 14 gallons) (have this)
**(the either or if you run the subtank, not both) **
-overhead compass altimeter (have this)
-factory oem front winch (tbc)
-center console fridge (have this)
-rear ac unit (have this )

Most models 93-97 will include the wiring for the lockers as well. At least the dash harness (Plug from magic dial to locker ecu and front kick panel through the firewall to connect the front e-locker.

Heated seats

@retrofive , if the heater wires are present , where and how do we find the heat element to put in the seat and wire it up? Any info u can share on this ?
I could be mistaken, bought thought remember reading here on several occasions they are either under the seat or under the center console. Search for heated seats and sure the reference of some sort will pop up. Seems some use those connection for 12v around the console for other than heated seats. Or I'm crazy, have been running a fever.

Those are some good ideas. I do need to locate the elocker harness to know where to plug in. I was also wondering if that plug I was looking at had anything to do with the factory air filter plugged dash lamp.

That I do not know but if you take apart your dash , you will find it semi buried back there . But your not even done, u have bulbs to add to your cluster. You will need the ECU for the locker that goes in the passenger side kick panel (connector is there also) then to truly go oem you need to replace 3 key harness , one of them is a huge monster running along the driver side floor, another in the rear and then the final one to the rear locker.

Only one harness needs to be replaced for the front

I have read some trucks are "prewired" and others are not for the elockers. I'm not sure what to look for or where to look to see if mine is "prewired."

Give me 2-4 days and I'll post the write up on how to see for the connectors . If you have the locker dial switch behind the dash (it's buried) and the ECU connector in the passenger side foot well, your good.

Remember you will need 4 harnesses to make it happen . 3 for the rear and 1 for the front. Guys correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't done my swap yet as I have not had time to be alone in the garage (chasing a baby 24/7)

And don't forget you need 2 donor axles !

Shortcut can be get the third member complete and just get by with a rear elocker but piece by piece will take forever and will cost you 10x more then u can imagine

Thanks. I have the axles, ECU, some of the wiring, but no switch or bulbs yet.
