Seems too good to be true. The thing that bothers me is that he says the transmission slips while warming up due to the extreme valve body. RocDoc has the same trany setup. pm him and make sure that the slipping is normal and not just the sellers excuse to sell you a truck with a bad trany.

I've seen this truck for sale on MUD before. He was originally asking 7k for it I think. The replys on his post recommended him as a good guy with a good truck. I bet the reserve is much higher than the 3k the auction is at now

thanks for the advice guys i pm Rocdoc about his rig. Does this guy still post here and does anyone know his name so i can pm him

I'll try and track down that thread I saw. I don't remember it being more than a month ago. Haha..I've only been a member since NOV...seems like a lot longer!

It looks legit but the price will not be cheap.

Auction is set to end on the 11th and 3 bidders... it will go much higher.

The armor on it alone is worth at least half the 3k bidding price IMO.

i agree

I don't know anything about the seller, or the truck, but the way he describes the tranny it sounds like the seals are getting hard. He says in the add that its been slipping for two years like that, if it is hard seals it'll die eventually, surprised it hasn't yet. My started slipping like he described and lasted about 9mo.

you basturds!!! talk about me behind my back!!!

hi I am the seller. its hard to step into a conversation pointing out hte good and the bad on your truck but I have a thick skin. it's also hard to convey personality sometimes on these boards so that said. I am selling my fj62 on ebay. if you read the for sale thread you will see I have been back and forth on selling it for a couple months now mainly due to my project fj45lv (which you can see the build thread in my sig line) not being road worthy, and to be honest i knew I was only going to keep one truck when I got the lv finished but I wanted to make sure i was going to like driving the lv.

so to answer a few questions. the tranny is what it is it slips when first warming upi want to be honest about that would this be a great truck for a h55 or H41/2 no doubt the engine is strong and well tuned. If i could afford both trucks i would eventually do one of those or an extreme tranny from Rodney.

before joining mud 4 years or so ago I was an original member of the 3fe yahoo list so i have been in on every fix it and benificial cleaning/maintence/modification that one can do to a 3fe-ed landcruiser. i went to 3fe bashes have stayed and visited at 3fe members house i was 3fe. so this cruiser always gets genuine toyota parts when it needs it and always gets fixed when it needs it. does it need it often? to be honest i will go stretches where my mechanic almost forgets my name and then I will go stretches where it needs some love. and it always gets love .

I am a decent mechanic but am not afraid to call in help when I feel the project is too big. like when the diffs were regeared and elockered i sent them to KLF (on this board) to have him set up the preload and I paid him by buying a 20 ton shop press 9or was it 12 i can't remeber)

here is what i am having a hard time with do i sell it for 8-11 K and let it go or do i part it out for 12-14K. i would be able to move some parts (which i have not done yet) over to my lv and save myself billions. i would hate to part it out A)cause it is a great truck and B) cause that would take more time than I really have.

as far as it not being detailed. yes my bad i had every intention of vacuuming it out and it has been my daily driver up until Saturday this was my only vehicle on the road. and when I detail a truck i start with what really matters the fluids. i change the oil check the condition of the plugs and wires check the diff fluids check the tranny fluids check the t-case fluid make sure everything is greased check the brake system out . by the time i was done with that aspect the light was fading and i needed to take pics quick. oh well i'm not selling a car show truck I am selling a very capable expedition ready truck that is built.

any questions just ask
jason

Have spent a lot of time under and in this truck, it may not be the prettiest but Jason has done it proud.

JP, it was a 20-ton press. Thanks!!

Excuse me for asking if you've answered it already: where are you located? It's a good idea to put it in your sig line so locals can offer better help.

You're be jumping off the deep end with a much-modified truck. Not that's bad, but can you swim? There are lots of advantages to bone-stock vehicles, like maintainability. If we accord Jason the respect all Mudders get (:flipoff2:), then we'll assume that all the mods were done properly. But only he knows the details of each one & it would be difficult to join this saga without prior experience with at least an FJ40 or something with a similar drivetrain.

And Jason, you know full well that if you get 50 cents on the dollar for the upgraded parts alone (nothing for your labor), you'll be doing good. That's ignoring the "bigger fool theory" under which sports teams are sold. If you find someone that knows a lot about the vehicles, maybe you'll get close to what you want. Never know.

Hes added a "buy in now" option on his ebay sale its $10000 which is $2000 higher Than what he offered on his thread. To much for me so i wish him luck with the sale especialy in this economy. sill looking for something though

ive had experience with jeeps i had a 03 Rubicon with some work done buy me, ive also worked on my uncles 1976 wrangler and my cousins FJ40

this will be primarily me second vehicle so its maintainability does not have the same need as a daily driver im looking for something that is rady to go and can do it all. though i respect your point of not knowing all the parts history from instal like jason does

also i live in Virgina

thanks

It's a lot cheaper to buy a built cruiser than it is to build it yourself. You can search on 'MUD for the vehicles history. If it is really close to what you want to end up with in the end, then I would think budgeting for the tranny problems is just part of the deal. You might want to reconsider or at least keep your eye on it.
