I'm just curious. I've noticed that a majority of FJ60s are located in West Coast and Mid-West. Either for sale or existing in these regions. Is this a fluke? If not, why are there more located in the two regions than say southern and eastern states? My 1984 FJ60 came from California originally, which is now with me in Virginia. I just find it fascinating the populous of these find vehicle as they age

Also, is there some metrics provided as to how many were sold in states by years?

You can explain the west coast ones pretty easily: no road salt = way less rust = more surviving 60s. The midwest is a bit of a mystery if there really are disproportionately many cruisers there.

The west end of the country was way more receptive of "imports" in the 80s. As far as the Midwest I dunno. Personally I think they're scarce.

West Coast has the best weather and no salt so cars stay on the road much longer. It isn't just 60 series, it's all cars/trucks.

Midwest, no idea. Couldn't imagine living there. :D

I can think of at least 7-9 40/60s I see almost daily here.

All responses make sense. Looks like they have a high profitability to rust. I don't see too many in Va Beach. A friend of mine has an 85, here locally. They are like unicorns, like my 1995 Toyota Previa All-Trac LE Super Charger

Living in Colorado, I put down West Coast, as its not really the west coast, but its not really the mid-west either? There are a lot of LC's of all vintage in the CO, NM, AZ, WY, NV Corridor.

yeah VB rusted my FJ55 to pieces in the 80's. it was the only red one in town at the time. these old beasts just are not made to take the the moisture. they fair better in the dry climates like the rest mentioned.

With that said, what is the best treatment to use for an undercoat? Any suggestions? Thanks goodness, mine came from California so there is no rust. Every time I see classifieds, the FJ60 and 62s are coming from Washington, CA, TX, NV, AZ, CO, etc

"None of the Above" - everyone knows that Santa Fe, NM is the Land Cruiser wagon (FJ6X) capital of the world, they're everywhere (except today I didn't see any).

You always say that and I never see any. I just did a little brewery tour with some out of state friends and the only 60 I saw was my own. Now in Albuquerque we have us some 60s :)

Sadly, they are salting the roads now in some areas of WA State...last year was the 1st time they used it around me, our small city has $ So they use de-icer, but all around us the county uses salt. I think King county also salts. People.think the rain is bad for cruisers or because we are near salt water they rust....but they don't. (Unless you drive on the ocean beaches)

But yes,the West got a lot of cruisers, over a dozen 60's in my small town, few original owners even. Most of the old fj45 pickups(and early cruisers) were also sold on the west coast, even when new I don't think many made it to the east.

Oddly, BC has a similar weather as us....but they salt the crap out of everything....and their stuff is a rotted rusty mess.(and most Canadians version of rust is different than ours)

There is also a lot more open space to use your cruiser in the mid-west/west so people may be looking for this type of vehicle than in the East or South where it's harder to get off-road.
