West coast is fairly general criteria.
Expertise and quality of workmanship would factor heavily in guiding my selection of a shop. I see an abundance of both in this build thread.

Good luck in your engine swap.

If you supply parts some shops will have issues as it is hard to warranty unknowns (like used engine). Your budget may have to be adjusted if you were thinking otherwise.

All of the shops above and our shop included will not warranty any work or parts on anything that is used or brought to us by a client. And we won’t do an engine conversion using a used engine without at least doing some serious inspection which would include tear down.

Used parts/engines and parts brought by customers are customer service nightmares.

And OP: reach out, we’d be happy to discuss engine conversion options for you. (We are in AZ; not the West Coast but pretty damn close).

Some shops on the West Coast that could do it:
  1. Valley Hybrids @orangefj45 (Georg supports our cruiserhead brethren like no one else).
  2. Mudrak in Sonoma. Home | mudrak - https://www.mudrak.com/ (Gary Kardum)
  3. Fit Garage: Fit Garage - https://www.thefitgarage.com/
  4. Land Cruiser NW: Landcruiser NW - https://landcruisernw.com/
If you're open to driving to Texas, I would talk to Joeri at Joe's Custom Cruisers @joekatana . He has done tons of diesel conversions on 70 series vehicles.

Add @torfab and @SNLC as well to this list.

We have a very clear clause in our contract that states “we are not responsible for the original condition of your vehicle, and will not provide warranty on any original or customer provided parts”.

What is your shop Beno? I stopped in Patagonia after a trip way down south. Nice place to call home!

Thanks. It’s an awesome place to live. Very grateful.

I run a LC shop in Sonoita, 12 miles east of Patagonia.
Nice. I’ve been through there. We usually cross into Mexico at the other Sonoyta.

Thanks all for reaching out and info. Just got back to Costa Rica after about a month on the road in the states with the Troopy. I will be reaching out.
