Went to buy a 99 LX470 and came home with a 2003 LX470

Hi Guys, I've owned alot of cruisers, 4x's, 6x's, 7x's, 8x's, etc etc. I have an HZJ79 now that is my play truck so I decided I wanted something more comfy and safe for the family. I called a few dealers in Toronto prior to flying in from Ottawa and I found a 1999 LX470 that was "mint", I asked if it had ever been painted, rust, a/c work etc etc, "everything is perfect my friend" yada yada.

I get there and the whole thing had a fresh paint job with streaks and everything, undercarriage was very rusty, exhaust was s*** and the a/c blew hot. So I bailed, called a couple of other dealers and went and bought a 2003 instead - more bells and whistles, side impact curtains, 5 speed tranny - no brainer. It needs ex manifolds and some minor work but it is great - ran flawlessly home from toronto - 5 hrs driving.

Loving the lexus.

I like the wood in it - what do you want plastic? What other material would make you happy - porn cut outs? ok that would be cool. I like the truck, I like the interior, reminds me of my dads 81 lincoln - and that is why I wanted this truck, comfy and like a big fricking boat. If you guys are riding a 100 series or lexus and think you roughing it or have an expedition vehicle then seriously you need to see a real cruiser, sorry but I call it as I see it. 100's and 470's are grocery getters, 100's and 470's tricked out are grocery getters that are tricked out - but still pretty capable.

i got to wheel one a few years back at one of the River Shivers in Alberta and it made the trails feel like a highway. so comfy, so quiet, so ... mallish.
