Well that was scary for a tractor motor!

Was 1 degree yesterday and I needed to plow 5-6 inches of snow. The old PlowPig55 was a little slow starting (going to need a new starter this spring) but when it did start the accelerator cable (like the old brake cable on your bike) snagged inside the cable housing and locked the throttle wide open and red lined an ice cold F motor, screaming like a car at a drifting completion. Thankfully the hood was up and I jumped out and lifted the throttled linkage and got it to idle......I was terrified it was going to blow a new engine! Anyway, I pulled the throttle cable, ripped out the plastic liner and reinstalled the steel cable and got it running normally. Finished plowing, the engine seems fine and took the old pig to town for a drink and now need order a new throttle cable!

And those that have this type of throttle cable system may want to check theirs!

My cables always broke before they were caught by the liner.

I replaced my starter outdoors when it was 24 below and ended up getting my photos in Rocket Minor and lost a days wages.

When I rebuild the original carburetor I didn't have the linkage hooked up right and the secondary was wide open and it went to full rpm when I started it.

I shut of the key and let it set for 3 days before trying to find out what I did wrong.

Or maybe just hook your right toe under the skinny pedal and pull up...
I actually tried that first but it wouldn't release due to binding in the cable liner.

Good instincts then. I have the linkage, not cable, and use that maneuver occasionally if I feel it's idling too fast.

@AdventureToolCompany what tires are you running? Those look great.
Morning-

Those are Power King brand bias ply tires. I got them off Amazon maybe 4 years ago. They were under $100 ea back then with free shipping.

Pros: Old school pizza cutter look. Great snow traction, haven't needed chains since and seem to be durable since they live outside in the mountains.

Cons: Bias ply so they flat spot like crazy. Some sidewall cracking has started so I'll see how long they last.
