info. on the TN pig

man - I'm sorry I was late to tell you, if I had seen it posted up before you bought it, I would've let you know what I knew about it....the seller at the time was proposing to me to just pull the oil pan and replace the rings....there are terms for this type of rebuild but I'll refrain....the rig does have one hell of an inside that is worth something and really the outside is not that bad....having been in the market forever (maybe I'm just a tire kicker with a FJ62) this rig is not that bad for east coast...most I've seen are either rebuilt (the devil you don't know and you'll pay for then) or needing to be rebuilt (the devil you do know once you rebuild it). We don't know what you paid (and ain't asking) so the decision is really up to you...if you really have swine fever and are somewhat stubborn or tenacious (like self) you'll do all you can to keep it and run it. Be sure to post up pics in a year or so.

Thats my back seat?

Sven:

That's my back seat alright.

The interior is pretty good and I like the fact that most of the electrical and mechanicals are original - the pig is worth saving.

Hope to have a good welder/fabricator look at it next weekend. I now know I can get the mechanicals done.

BTW - I paid too much.

Keil Thompson is a wise man!

I have been thinking about my plight in several ways....contemplated spending much money on rust repair and engine rebuild (seems like everybody that looked at the Pig found something else wrong with it).

I also thought about getting the FJ 55 drivable the cheap way - especially after my bride contributed her input (I can't believe it but she wants a deck on the house more than she wants me to have another toy). I could not decide what to do. Woe was me.

Keil made some suggestions and helped me see the error of my ways:) - he's a thoughtful and wise man. Thank you Keil.

Soooo - I am going to start over in my quest for a DD Iron Pig...one that I can see and touch before purchasing.

.........stay tuned for the next steps and thanks to all of you who provided input and feedback.

The existing PIG's future is .....

I have a verbal agreement to sell it to the local guy that does body work and has his own shop at home. He needs a month to get the money together.

If he doesn't buy it then it is going to SC and become a "permanent convertible" piggy (after some work with a torch and a cutting wheel) with a full roll bar and some rear jump seats. Lots of nice sand, salt water, tidal marshland and dirt roads to explore before the area turns into another Hilton Head Island.

The potential fun factor is pretty good - I figure it will then hold several adults or grandchildren long enough to transport them to Hunting Island Beach in the summer.
