All,

I just wanted to toss this over the fence for any of you "Highway" alumni who are thinking about a fishing/camping/hunting trip to my neck of the woods. Camp Dawson is in Preston Co WV. Take a look at the link above for more specific info....BLUF = Nice rooms, great price, restaurant/lounge on location. You are within an hour of some of the best trout fishing in this part of WV...Oh, and bring your TLC!!

Jeff,
These rooms look just a little too "barracks" to me, might give me nightmares sleeping in one of those rooms! They just don't look right without 4 cases of beer sitting in the corner!

4 cases of beer sitting in the corner!

Salad years!!

Spent six months in the BOQ at Carson. I can hardly look at a reclining chair without having a flashback...

No "theme limits" on the "Highway". Thought this would be a good time to post a pic of my last "Triumph". Parts are 1938-1970. (Pre Unit and unit) Collected parts for years while I was "affiliated". Won a best of show in Cleveland this past spring!! I think its OK to have more than one bad habit. Isn't it? Going to send this one to the auction block. Some of the proceeds will go to the hunting mule (Tub repair?). Some to a "car" (Toyota Rav4) for my son. I mentioned the "mule" and another Toyota in the same post so I guess this is kosher.........

You never know when you may be stuck inside for more than a weekend because of a blizzard, or a lock down, or Lt. losing his sidearm...............

Lt. losing his sidearm...............

You know yer $hit is weak when the LT say's "Based on my experience"...

Disclaimer - "No LT's were harmed in the making of this statement".

Great thread! I've been a MUD member for over a year and just found this...

I think the move out of "Chit Chat" is opening up the thread to more "Mudites"..Appreciate all who have checked into the "net"!!

I thought this thread would see more action than this..........

Just found this through @pngunme signature link. I hardly every get out of the 80's Section. Guess I'll check in. Navy 2002-2007. Two deployments on CVN-68 USS Nimitz with "The Oldest and Boldest" Fighting 14 Tophatters in support of OIF and OEF. Sometimes I wish I could have stayed longer, but then I look at my life now and realized I made the right decision. Guess I have a new thread to subscribe too.

I took the rack off yesterday so I could get it in the garage to fix the axle seals that are leaking. It's a work in progress. Also about to start prepping for a liner job.

Roger here, Vietnam Cobra pilot, '68 -'69 C-4-77th ARA (Aerial Rocket Artillery), 101st Airborne. DFC x2, Purple Heart, etc

Rebuilding my 4th FJ-40 (it's an addiction), '77 model. Married to my beautiful wife for 47+ years. Three great sons, all veterans with overseas service. Youngest an Iraqi Combat Medic, 1st Cav and highly decorated.

Thanks to all you other folks who served our great country. Too bad we are represented by spineless, brainless lying SOB politicians.

Welcome Roger and thank you and your boys for your service!!

Congratulations on your enduring marriage - Dianna and I have been married for just over 45 years and proud of it!!

Show us some pics of your addiction, when you have time!!

Roger - Thanks for checking into the net. The Bell AH-1 was and is an incredible machine. The Corp still utilizes this platform...The M2 50 Cal MG, the 1911 45 Cal Pistol and the AH-1 Cobra Gunship, iconic designs still in service....

Do you know retired BG John"Doc" Bahnsen? The two of you would have been in country at the same time. Just curious if you ever crossed paths with him. I met DOC and his wife several years ago when he and his wife Peggy were here on an ROTC tour at WVU. Here is a link to see if you recognize him. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Bahnsen

Thanks guys.

Don't think I know the General. I spent most of my time in I Corps working the retake of the Ashau Valley and supporting LRP missions in North Vietnam and Laos. Camping beside the aircraft in a sand bag bunker in the Ashau was a real treat.

My old man spent some time in the Ashau 68-69 time frame. Cant remember his MOS but it was microwave communication stuff. He spent a lot of time around FOBs and firebases redoing communication lines, towers, radios, etc.. Once he left country he worked on AH-1s at Aberdeen. Got out and used his microwave experience into South Central Bell which became BellSouth then AT&T. 36 years later finally retired.

Served in the Army, specifically the Army Security Agency, then the 112th Military intelligence group, 1969 to 1973,

SGT Kyle Schleenvoigt, Active Duty Army. I do Satellite Communications and have been to Fort Detrick MD, Camp Arifjan Kuwait, and now The Great Place Fort Hood TX. I've got 7 years in so far and feel like I'm a lifer. My baby is a 1985 FJ60. I have had many other off road vehicles, but this is my one true love. I've been on Mud for many years and love the wealth of knowledge and experience on here!
