I guess it's time I introduce myself

Well, I have been in the cruiser scene for some time, actually since the day I bought my first car at 14...1972 FJ55 I used for small nighborhood landscaping business I was trying to build. The only one in this journey I don't have a photo of. Anyhow some 42 vehicles later I am still at it. I founded Olde North State Cruisers back in 2005 and with the help of our members created a unique environment and I know Ron is doing a great job with this club to the point it is at now.

I am posting a few photos of the journey and will be happy to share any others with anyone interested and the stories behind them. Current vehicles are a 1995 80 series I just installed a new 1FZFE in from toyota, with a few metal parts, and on board air via york. Other one is a 1999 100 series with rear locker. Will be the famliy hauler as we have our first little girl day anyday now. Pictures of the crew included the following. Diesel (4BD) 1969 FJ40 sold and on Isle of Palms, 1979 FJ55 with H55 and hybrid f/2F with 3fe exhaust manifolds sold and in San Clemente, CA. FJ62 with 80 locked axles and a few other things sold and in Murphy, NC, 1995 80 series described above, and the 1992 Hilux built with a 1KZTE turbo diesel and 5 speed manual, sold and now in Florida. Last photo is a 1972 FJ40 I built with 350/SM465/3 speed case and have since sold it to a guy in Southport, NC.

Here are some of the build threads;

I will post up one photo of the 80 you all may see around town from time to time. Dont really get a chance to drive it much. Look forward to joining you all on some upcoming events and meetings. Engine install and family travel has taken up most of my recent weekends so hope to see you all soon.

Good for you. Sears Saul is a friend of mine.

They said he's been taking a more hands on approach lately. There having a hard time making the lot look full so he's been buying more used cars and pulling new cars from other dealerships.

Hi guys, I just got a card stuck to my vehicle today telling me about this place. I'm stationed in Goose Creek and drive a 07 FJC. I've been looking for a place around here to get it nice and muddy. Its fairly new (to me) so I'm still learning all it can do

welcome Tyler...that was me that carded you when I went to lunch at Jasons today.....

We have a run this weekend you can get dirty as you like up there...if you can make it and take leave tomorrow and follow us up. I will be leaving Charleston around 10am and can pick you up somewhere along I-26 if you want to follow me.

Lots of good guys around...I had a 2008 FJ Cruiser as well so can help you with a lot of questions or modifications if interested.

Unfortunately, I'm signing back in from leave tomorrow morning with possible duty on Sunday, so I can't make that trip. Hopefully I'll be able to get to the meet and greet at andolini's in october.

As for mods- I honestly have no idea what to add to it, other than the vent visors I added and the nerf bar it came with. (btw- I've got this little red button to the left of the steering wheel that does nothing I know of) I was thinking maybe adding a hitch.
And only question I really had was- the tank says 91 octane or better, but everyone I know tells me use regular gas, that since the engine is broken it, it wouldn't matter. Any ideas?

Welcome Brad Pitt. Brock is the guy you want to help you with your FJC. He had a great FJ that was modded. He will tell you what you don't need and what is necessary to your off roading needs.

Come out to the meet and greet like you mentioned and try to make the trip up to NC with us at the end of Nov-Dec 2nd. The trails are as easy as you want all the way up to butt puckering. Awesome group of guys, and girls for that matter.

you do not have to use premium in FJC...it has anti knock sensor technology....the only thing is with regular gas it might not have the performance under load or in extreme heat that it would with higher octane. with all the ethanol I dont think the premium gas is much better than regular anyhow so I try to put one tank of non-ethanol through a couple times a year.

some mods are for looks...some are for use...lets talk when we can to see where you would like the truck to be in say 2 years for offroading, camping, hunting or just driving around...and can come up with some ideas.

Thanks michael for the words on my FJC I sold...yeah i fully built it pretty much and then sold it...hahaha...it is a sickness.

If you think you might do ANY OFFROADING at all.....this is the minimum:

- good AT tires
- rock sliders...not nerf bars as they wont do anything but cause damage

then later you can go one step at a time....suspension options, under armor, bumpers, winch, roof rack, cb radio, secure box for console, upgrade lights, if you dont have ATRAC then doing the button mod....if you cant do ATRAC and Rear Locker at same time then doing the Atrac Hack. Water proofing your vent lines for rear diff, locker, tranny, transfer case, etc......and more.

:) :) welcome...hope to see you at Andolinis in October.

Actually, I might have rock sliders instead of nerf bars- from what I've seen online, I can't tell, and the dealer I bought it from was clueless

is there an edit button on this forum?

I'm mostly clueless with my FJC- I only found the CD that explains the features yesterday and all my off road driving experience was in a fully loaded jeep that my ex girlfriend's handled everything on- all I had to do was put in gas.

Yes, there is an edit button. Look at the bottom of your post on the right.
PM Brock and meet up with him. He will be able to look at your truck and tell you exactly what is going on.

I think I may have to unlock that or something. I only have 'quote' 'multi-quote' and 'quick reply'

That's weird. I'm not sure who to tell you to email about that. Does anyone know of a moderator?

My brother just bought a 2011 4runner TRD SR5 w/ total chaos uppers toytech 2" lift , baja rack and nitto 33's. Would that qualify him to join the swamp fox club or are we strictly cruisers.
