Coming home from school today I saw a white 80 series cruiser. It had the side moulding like my 40th, the black pearl but the older 91-94 grill. It also had "four wheel drive" printed in the moulding. I have never seen this before. It also had the ambulance doors on the rear. Could this be an import cruiser? I tried to snap a pic but camera phones suck.

Gotta be an import. I recall someone wanting to convert the rear hatch to ambi doors, but don't think it every happened.

Best way to tell if it was an import is to look for the rear fender red side marker. As far as I know the US is the only country that got these (probably for some DOT regulation). But based on the ambulance doors, as Doug noted, it must be an import.

Here is a members rig with the side mouldings:

Was it port security?

Gee Derek, I wonder who's truck that could be...

I rememebr talking to Dan about those side mouldings .. They were in the neighborhood of $6387.95 for the set .. if ya know what I mean   :D

Who in the right mind would by some freakin side mouldings that say fourwheel drive for that much money?!

I would since I was looking for a white 97 collectors edition with tan cloth interior and lockers. I found a white 97 with tan leather interior with lockers. I figure with what I paid for my truck with what I was willing to pay for a truck the "cool" side moulding was "affordable".

I really wish I could have found that cloth interior....

Now to stay on topic, I wonder what the interior for that ambulance door rig would be. :D

Mooker, where in Charleston did you see this cruiser? Let me know so I can be on the lookout around town.

They are standard over here I think the idea is to protect the paint, in car parks idiots open there doors on you. That sort of thing.

They are standard trim in Australia also ao all but the Base models

I added a set to my '97 (now Kaderabek's truck) at the same time I applied the set of 40th badges. I think I paid $400 for the whole set. They come with little plastic shafts that are supposed to go into predrilled holes in the doors and body, as well as that super sticky double-sided 3M stuff. I shaved those off with a dremel tool and stuck them on.

I worked for Toyota at the time and several of the 91 and 92 trucks were imported with the same side molding that said "four wheel drive."
