My oh my. To fix it yourself and be done with it, or leave it to take back to them to try and find it themselves and perform the fix?

Be done with it and walk away with lesson learned, or try to teach them a lesson?

Personal preference for the owner. My opinion doesn't mean squat in THAT decision.

O ring is 96721-19010, list of $2.67, virtually universal on Toyota engines so any dealer would have it. And any hardware store would have something that would work, if you're still out in the boondocks.

Also needs the bolt 91621-B0816, which is part of the reason why the dipstick tube is not seated: they didn’t put the bolt back in through the bracket to head.

Hardware store should have a bolt that would work too, if you can figure out the threads, or if someone knows.

IIRC it’s an M6 head with 20mm length. I assume that makes the pitch 0.8? I’d go pull mine off and double check but it’s such a pain in the ass to put back on that I’d rather not. Sorry.

Just buy every pitch the hardware store has and it will still be cheaper than the dealer part, then find the one that works.

just pick a short 10mm wrench size bolt off your truck and screw it in. There are 100s of them all over the vehicle.

my o my is right. what a s*** show of a place of business.

Thank you all. It is home now and parts on order. I'm replacing the tube for the dipstick. Its all toast.

So, This is a weird damn thing and the shop did it poorly and I think got frustrated, gave it to a helper, and let them finish it.. They absolutely insist because its rusty this is the only way to go. I'm taking it to corporate and we will see what ends up happening. They worked on my 62 for years and I never had an issue. But it wasn't a particularly challenging vehicle.

Ugh. I think I'm keeping the rig. I've put so much blood, sweat, and tears into it at this point its a shame not to. And the engine, transmission, differentials, etc. run so great. I'm sort of thinking of keeping it, actually doing some fun mods like a suspension lift, trying to fix some of the @%(&U# work on it, and enlist my wife (who is very mechanically inclined but likes weird vehicles like old Broncos to help:) and have some fun. And keep my eye open for a good condition series 100 for an affordable price.

Anyway, since this is kinda jacked at least I wont be sad if i scratch it having fun. but 0#(&*09&*$)($^*#*^$

It has been a good lesson for me. All the way around. Expensive...... But good. And painful. And other things. Ugh..
