Have foogled for a bit and cannot find the weight of a HDT-1 and also a H151F 5 speed.
Reason for asking is because I have a SOA 60 in which the above combo has been transplanted.
Will need to re spring so I want to get info on the new combo in my truck.
Thanks for looking.

I almost never disagree with David, but it is not an 800lbs engine. It is close to 600.
The H151F is around 130, if my memory serves me right. And the transfer is another 100.
Cheers all!

Thank u both for the reply, would have thought that the inline 6 would be closer to a 1000 or 1200 lbs.
Should have put it on a scale .........dummy me.

Empty .? ( fluids ) accessories .?

:D

I mean .. you can't run any engine dry or without accessories .. ;)

There isn't much difference between the weights of any 6 cyl diesel or petrol engines , so re tensioning or replacing of the springs should be unnecessary.
Weights of engines are often in dispute because some people exclude/include many of the peripherals like the starter, alternator ,aircon pump, fuel pump or turbo. Just the oil alone weighs 20+lbs in the engine.

We have had many threads on this with weights quoted from freight charges.

I think most would disagree with this statement.
I would bet my house that a 1hdt weighs more than a small block petrol v8, let alone a petrol 6.

Just about every major component is heavier in a diesel, be it crank, rods, pistons, block, head.
The head alone is almost a two man lift.

The 60 that I bought out of LA and drove North of the border had a small block 350 Chevy in it.
Now that I have the HDT-1 in it with the same suspension, when I drive it seems to float and under braking it nose dives.
It's a little scary as I had to make a sudden lane change and it wasn't predictable.
Own 6 diesel vehicles, was always under impression that all diesels are " heavier".
Everything is build to last on diesels....... so most items would be heavier ???
My question of weight would refer to the long block assembly, alternator, pumps, radiator, hoses etc.
Thanks

I would see if a Yanmar dealer has the weights if you can't get them for a a guy like Sheldon or Greg. I believe Yanmar sells a 1hd-t derivative for boats.

I should have added I was talking about Toyota engines( I think I had intended editing it and got interrupted) . Someone did post the weights of the 2H 1hdt and 2F on MUD and there wasn't much in it .And the B engines are not far behind them , don't think having 2 cyls less makes them lightweights..
The old F engines often did the work that diesels do now and needed the HD components.
Nissan's equivalent sized old petrol and diesel engines shared the same block. Rumoured to be an old Austin design.
I'm happy with figure of 750lbs for all the 6 cyl and 5sp. If they are 30lb different ,it wont make any difference to the front suspension.

I have no definitive info, but for what its worth, during my swap I cut a 1FZ with auto trans and xfer case still attached, and pasted a 1hdt/h151/h2fa all in one piece and they "felt" very similar lifting and maneuvering them around on the hoist.
