Been thinking about this for years. How to get a diesel into a rig I want. Don't have the right answer yet.


Toyota diesels are great, just parts would be a drag to get.


I love my cummins 6BT, but man is it noisy, so a convertible 40 is out. I am watching with much interest to the 4BT thread that cjmoon is doing.

ya ya i'm working on it... i've been much slower than I would have thought. I burned time in December waiting on parts and just to cold the last month. My 4bt will be louder than your 6bt the only way to cut noise is ISB (common rail) not cheap but does have it's benefits.

Projects in my garage always take longer than I expect, so I understand. Actually, I think your project is moving along quite well, especially with the cold winter we have had.


Noise, or not, I am excited to see what yours is like.


Also, just saw your signature, LOVE IT. I have said for years that I have a cummins truck -- only thing that gets replaced on the truck has Dodge symbols on them!


Keep up the progress and the pictures. Maybe someday I will put a 6bt in a rig.

If you could get it for $350-450 I would think that is a pretty good deal.

He's pretty set on the $500 now but I haven't offered him anything yet. I was thinking I'm comfortable buyer at 400. Still have to drive there. That's a good $50 in fuel

That is a nice Slee short bus. One of my favorites. It does look a little rough, but I think this might be the first used one I have seen that is fairly close.
