A guy I know in Texas that way with three deep cycles powered by the sun. In Canada, we don't get much of that "sun" stuff but we also don't get as much heat. Other friend completely ripped apart an A/C system off a Volkswagen beetle, made it fit in a suitcase, and put it on the roof of his truck to operate with a marine battery. It works well enough for his single cab and he wants to put it into his new G-Wagon.
