My water pump started slowly leaking a week or so ago. I got another water pump and seal and replaced it. But it still leaks. It looks like it is leaking out of the little hole under the pump??? (i dont even know if this is possible?) but could anyone please give me some help thanx! any input would be appreciated!

im VERY surprised its just "leaking". when mine went out, H2O shot out of the weep hole, and 100' later i was stranded...

yup, leaking out the weep hole, our 62 did just that, drip just a bit for many months, finaly replaced it with a new OEM pump.......no problems. my guess is that you used other then an OEM pump......like one with a lifetime warantee(LOL)

take the pump back where you go it and get a refund.
get a new toyota pump
install
be happy

I wish..... got the other pump off of my spare engine

anyone know of a place to get one other than toyota(cause i would imagine it would be expensive from there)????

OEM $100-ish. ........money well spent, won't be pulling em on and off for ALONG time

NOt so funny, I think I have the same problem.

Would a leak from this weep hole cause a considerable amount of H2O consumption, spray on the front of the engine, and overheating?

Yep.

Buy an OEM pump. Your first pump probably lasted more than 150k miles with marginal maintanence. That's great service. Once you factor in the install time and the new hoses and the thermostat you should also install, the water pump won't seem that bad. I got a new Toyota water pump for my FJ40 last spring and I expect another 30 years of service from it. Do not cheap out and use marginal parts. Your Cruiser deserves better.

If you take the time to look at an OEM pump and the usual GMB pump you see in the aftermarket, the quality difference is obvious. The original is almost a work of art out of the box. The impeller is a real cast iron turbine. The aftermarket ones are cheapo pressed steel. As I recall the Cruiserdan price was about $110. Also get a thermostat ($14) and the gaskets and be happy for a long time.

One last thing-you will likely break a thermostat housing bolt or two, so buy some spares.

Thanks for your help! I have decided to order one from my local toyota dealership. Amazingly its only $160 canadian.
