Water in Passenger footwell

So I’ve been running a lot of electrical wires through the PS firewall grommet. And once done the plan is to put some silicone or liquid tape and tape that sealed the best I can.

Recently with the rain in CA I parked my car in an inclined driveway over night and found a puddle in the floor mats this AM.

I checked the area…grommet has some drops on and I think some rain is getting in and dropping on the wires and the water is just traveling down the wire into the grommet.

But I also spied this little vent that had a pool of water around it. Anyone know where this goes? The tic tac toe looking vent in the left side. Seems to go behind the firewall to behind the fender. I didn’t get to poke around much cuz I’m at work but annoying. And I want to nip this in the bud before it causes any corrosion.

Do a search - this is a common issue, with plenty of existing threads going over it. Most likely clogged sunroof drains.

I’ll bet it’s your windshield cowl, there’s a couple comprehensive threads around, “leak” I think is one of them.

In my instance it didn’t matter how I parked…

I went full nuclear option and placed a plastic guard over the air intake. (After I figured out the LC cowl doesn’t fit the LX). 100% fixed with dry floors now.

Also, brand new LC cowl still available in SoCal…

Hmmmm

This sounds like it could be one of the causes and second video has a simpler solution…
