..Edited now that I have a proper listing in the Parting Out section..
Not super familiar with this forum so I apologize if I posted this in the wrong place.

Little background, I've been piecing together all of the parts to build a 4x4 Chinook for a bit now, soon I'm going to be stripping the body etc off of this 1994 FZJ80 non-triple locked, rebuilding the rolling chassis, dropping a 1977 Chinook body on it, tossing a 5VZ-FE from a '98 4Runner, and going out and adventuring with my ideal rig. Combination of modern niceties of EFI, disk brakes, and the reliability of the mechanical 5spd and transfercase, I'm sure I'll find some roadblocks along the way, but I sold all of my other adventure rigs to fund this project so I'm all in.

Current build plan is:
-Strip the body off
-Rebuild the rolling chassis
-Lift it 3" or so (Dobinsons and Billsteins)
-Manual Front Hubs
-4.88 and ARB lockers
-Drop the 1977 Chinook body on top
-3.4l
-R150f
-VF1A or the HF2AV (converted to part time)

I have all these parts and am currently rebuilding the 3.4l.

My brother and I had a late 70's Toyota Galavan (similar to a Chinook) back in college.

I too have a dream of finding a nice one and converting it to a solid axle Toyota (although I may use a mini truck for the conversion if it ever happens). Will look forward to following this thread.

She's as rough on the inside as she looks like on the outside, but I'm going to gut it and do some fiberglassing to close up the compartments I'm not going to use. Repair the slouching roof, and new canvas.

Cost of items so far.
$360 -R150f and Vf1A from a junkyard 1988 pickup
$450 -1998 4Runner with 3.4 and wiring
$950 -1977 Chinook
$1600 -1994 Land Cruiser

It got a little sketchy, but got it done. Going to borrow a steam cleaner and get the 1FZ cleaned up and pulled off the frame. Then its on to fully cleaning the frame and probably prep and Por15 to get the thing protected.
