Hello we recently bought a 2017 GX460 as our family car quite excited. However as the manufacturer warranty is about to run out and we have low miles and intend to keep the car for long. Any tips and guidance tied buying additional warranty is appreciated !!

Put the money you would spend on a warranty into an investment or savings account. Add to it each month for repairs/maintenance. The warranty companies are in the business of making money; by their calculations you will pay more than they will pay for repairs. The amount of exclusions in the warranties is ridiculous and these are reliable vehicles.

If it were anything other than a Toyota/Lexus, I might think about it, but these vehicles are pretty bullet proof. Not saying that something could happen, it's just not likely. As PirateMcGee stated, with such an unlikely possibility of anything going wrong, putting money aside, if (big if) something were to happen, you'd be better off digging into your "insurance" saving account to pay for it than paying for an aftermarket warranty. But that's just my opinion and as I like to say, "Opinions are like bellybuttons, everyone has one."

100% agree. Factory warranties from the manufacturer are a different animal entirely. I still say its generally not worth it (if they lost more money on warranties than they made, they wouldnt offer them) but you will at least get what you pay for. The aftermarket ones will weasel their way out of everything - even things explicitly stated as being covered.

And if you don't trust a bunch of yahoo's on the internet (who are right) you can always see what Dave Ramsey has to say about aftermarket warranties, which is what's been said so far, and I would add doubly so for as reliable car as the Lexus is...
