I got bored so I went out and took some pics to keep you all going over the break:D

I spied this 6 wheeler in a little yard renownwed for its oddball stock rather than quality stock:rolleyes:
Ive always wondered if the extra axle stresses the chassis and this one has a crack in it,maybe it was abused.

I still likE these 6 wheeler troopy buses and like half the vehicles in the yard was left unlocked over the xmas break which is great becuase I got some inside shots:D
They were asking $42k for a 2001 with 68000 klms. Not too bad as the conversion would cost almost that

And a collection of 105,75 and 80 series dual cabs in various states of disrepair

They were a bit roughish on the inside and an inch of mud covering everything underneath

Wow, that 6 wheeler troopy is sweet! But it looks like the third axle is a lazy axle? Got any pics from underneath? Just wondering if the 3rd axle is powered how they power it?

Dave

I saw this HJ6? on the wy home and it has me confused. It has the barn doors,5sp and square headlights but has fixed rear windows and 3 seater front.
I have always thought all aussie spec 60 had the sliders after 84.
It didnt look like a JDM import with barn doors fitted.

Anyway it was really neat with only some surface rust around the barn door windows,no leaks and all original with 260000klm
Lots of potential:D

Yep lazy axle, the powered axle is both expensive and rare. A cheaper way is to buy rubber tracks which you drive onto with the tyres half infalted . Then you join the tracks together with pins and reinflate the tyres which holds the traks in position.
Very effective with a rear locker diff and looks oh so cool:cool::D

There is other ways of powering the rear diff and that is to put a Spicer or Dana diff in the centre with a drive shaft exiting from the diff or have special t/case with another driveshaft for the rearmost axle. The latter gives more articulation but looks cumbersome

Ok ,onto the big dollar items:D Some lucky bastard has already bought this troopy for xmas, maybe it was a present from his wife:D

Yes, JDMs usually have the large mirrors. Few are standard spec wagons, most are G or GX spec. Look at the transfer shift instruction stickers on the glove box. If in Japanese, it's a dead give away of a JDM.

See? Posting pics can be tech :D

I want one of these LED brake lights, very effective in traffic. Ive been told its made by Bosch but only Toyota Aust sell them.
Note the blacked out light on the rear fender .This is because you cant see them from all angles with a spare tyre on the door hence the roof mounted brake light and indicator lights built into the bumper

I already looked there and no japanese writing. Im wondering if its built up from parts off later models, but why not go all the way and add sliders?

Drroooooolll

You know, my cruiser didn't have the one-way valve either when it had the 2H but since I used an HZJ75 tank, one was added.

Now that is a good picture of the H150f gearbox. That makes the troopy an HDJ78, or an FZJ78, right? Did you happen to take pics of the interior? I'd like to know where the transfer shifter enters the cabin. The transfer shifter looks different than the ones on an HDJ80. I'm afraid mine will stick up underneath the bench seat.

Dave

There was also a new cab chassis 79 series and hilux. The fuel consumption pic is the official fuel consumption for a 1HZ . I think these are done to a strict standard and not doctored like the figures given out by the car ompanies.

Give me chance:confused::D

Nope sorry the interior pics showing the gearsticks and dash didnt work out.

I thought the mud flaps were fairly crap for a $60k troopy, they looked like some linoleaum cut up:D

Who knows, the 100% sure fire way is to look at the build plate on the bulkhead. If it says HJ6xG-..., it is a JDM. If it says HJ6xRG-... it is a non JDM. Since all JDMs are RHD by default, there is no "R" or "L" after the model designation.

Aussie market vehicles also have a model number that ends with "Q" unless it is a cab chassis which ends with "Q3"

Now you gotta go back to the dealership and take some more pics for me :D

What is the plastic wrapped thing in the troopy back seat?

I know but its a public holiday and if I try lifting the bonnet the police will come and get me:D

:D I would guess its a spare wheel cover given as a courtesy by the yard although this one doesnt have the spare mounting bracket.
The smaller package is probaly those little plastic mirrors that only the most expensive troopy's and cab chassis RVs get:rolleyes:

Would it look like the dual cab 105 above?
