New Warn9.5xp
Had to go and be difficult and move the control box up under the hood.
I labeled everything real carefully (I thought I did anyway)
As soon as the power cable to the solenoid box gets power, the winch starts to turn with no remote hooked up.

What did I mess up?

I did this late last night and have not had time to trouble shoot yet but I dont even know what I should check.

The only thing that I think I could have done is reverse the field (F1,F2) wires. I thought that would only make it run backwards though, not all the time.

All sorted out. Called Warn, they emailed me a PDF that showed my stupid mistake, cable on the wrong post.
Thank goodness I didn't let the smoke out.

Kevin, just used my new one for the first time yesterday. Pretty cool to get really stuck... then unstuck.

Did you do a remote switch in the truck? I gave it my best shot, but in the end I gave up. I couldn't figure out the wireing. I know it is probably simple, but I just didn't have the time to put in to it.

Here ya go guys, updated the other thread:

For my application I did not want to bother with the second switch. I think I will just run the remote wire through the firewall and attach the remote to the kick panel.
If I want it in the truck, it is there, if I want it outside, just send it out the window.

I have been trying to find a 5 wire curly cord that I could rewire it with, that way it would be self retracting and you wouldn't have to bother with getting that long remote cord tangled.

There are several posts on remote wiring. On mine, I have 2 switches in the cabin. One is a simple SPST on/off switch that completely disables the winch electronics by disconnecting the ground wire to the solenoid box. This also disables the solenoid box and the remote controller.

The other is a DPDT (MO-off-MO) meaning momentary on, center off, momentary on. I used an antenna switch from a 4R application. CruiserDan can get you the switch. Wiring is straight forward so search the archives here in this section. I believe it was FirstToy that did a good write-up on his wiring. FYI, Christo sells a "black-box" that makes the wiring very simple. Two or three wires to the black box as I recall.
