I'm swappihg Badlands synthetic into my Warn VR 10000 to replace the wire rope. Had everything loosened and the cable slack, but forgot about the tension that comes for being wound around t5he drum. The set screw went orbital as I could not find perched atop the closley cut grass the truck was sitting on. Warn's documentation is less than helpful, they want to sell you a part # instead of providing info to source it locally during such a minor crisis.

The Warn screw most likely isn't what I need to put the rope on, I just need it in order to buy the right size and style screw to hold one of the two thimbles that come with the rope. HF supplies two screws but neither seems happy trying to fasten the thimble down to the warn drum.

The "terminal kit" for the Warn VR10000 is pn#79626. Searching that pn shows the bolt size is 1/4-20

Thanks for digging that gem out. I was just getting ready to go to the garage, grab some likely candidates, and crawl under the truck. Now all I have to do is go shopping

The head of the BadfLands screws is substantially different than on the minimalist Warn equivalent, but common enough looking I should be able to come up with a 1/4-20 version. The larger of the two above seems to be 7mm or very close to 1/.4"

That black screw in your photo and silver screw in mine are both Allen screws and probably even the same bit size if I had to guess. Only difference is my photo is a regular cap screw, whereas yours is a knurled socket-head cap screw. I would stick with the Warn design because the smooth top will prevent it from snagging the line. The Badlands black screw is designed to be recessed inside that other adapter, which shields it from snagging the line

What seems to fit best was a 3/4" long 1/4-20 Cap Screw. Seems to fit up well. The screw head is flush with the smooth thimble, so I think this is what is desirable

..? While the smaller screws seem to be the same diameter, they definitely have a different thread count, so the BadLands one is something other than 1/4-20.

Okay that's weird my VR12000 terminal looks identical to the picture I posted of a copper terminal lug.

I'm not sure the length of the bolts. As for the 1/4-20 nomenclature, the 1/4 just means the major diameter (or peak-to-peak width of the bolt) is 1/4". The 20 is how many threads per inch there are. Typically there's a third number that represents the length of the bolt from the bottom of the bolt head, but I couldn't find it for Warn. So the length may be different to account for that thimble

With the original wire rope on it, the fastening was identical to what you posted. Looks like a cable lug.

The thimble parts and screws were included with the BadLands sythn line. I'm betting the metric screws cover the T-max clones. Not sure why Waen standard option wasn't included with the BadLands sythn. This looks like the solution for that oversight.
