After reading through this months 4WD Toyota owner (Dave, thanks for the copy), I got to thinking about this product. It's a new winch from Warn that combines a winch(HD- rated at 12,000lbs/ HP- rated at 9500lbs) and an air-compressor. Can't decide if it's an inventive, solid product or novelty? Anyway, is anyone planning on hacking their bumper up to try? Seems like it might be too tall and block most of the front grill. But still, anyone?

I saw it on extreme 4x4 last sunday where they put it on a new FJ Cruiser. I saw them start it up and he claimed it can even run air tools. When he pulled the trigger on the air hammer wrench it didn't sound like much happend.

I'm sure you would have to have an auxillary tank if you really wanted to run an air tool. That being said, it seems like a good idea for the occasional 4 wheeler. Petersons 4WD and offroad did a write up on it and said not to use it if you are going to doing serious recovery often. It may not stand up to that abuse.

What's the abbrevatoin for FRICKIN' HUGE?

FUGE?

It's not 'attractive' if that matters to you.

ditto both ..

I thought the compresor concept are not designed for air up 4 39" tires or run air tools .. barely ( and thinking in long term reliability of this compresor ) to help with one tire or air up from 15 to 30 PSI 33" or 35" tires ..

Honestly I don't imagine buy this one and run throught a mud hole to recover my cruiser ..

Yes, for full-functionality Warn states the need for the use of an aux tank. That being said, at least I know they've been testing it.

Not at all. Functionality is what matters to be. But besides, I think it's 'attractive'.

Maybe it's too soon for a reliable, solid combo unit. This first generation might need a couple go arounds before it's reliable. Maybe not. But trying to determine if anyone is gonna try, other than maybe me. I have concern over radiator/front grill blockage.

I like it. But I have enough crap and won't spent the $1200. I have a winch and a compressor.
My Jeep-Snatcher is only an 8K and that one is 12K plus a tire pump. Hummm!

Kinda' seems like a novelty, the only functional thing a winch and a compressor have in common is that they both use 12v power, so it's not really a space saver. I mean I guess an big stereo amplifier combined with a compressor would be kind of the same idea. I don't foresee myself using a compressor for air tools, so spending 12 mins to air up my 285s with my $50 MV50/MF-1050 is just fine with me. Also if you decide to upgrade one or the other, in the future, you won't have to replace both.
