Keys were lost, so I am looking for the ignition switch and key for a 1964 FJ40. Thanks.

BTW…Anyone know what other years will fit a ’64?

Take the switch to Toyota parts or a locksmith and they can make keys from the number stamped on the cylinder. Should be no big deal. HTH John#3

I'll give it a try...but it is from a '64, and so far my local guy has been no help.

CYLINDER & KEY SET,

Part number 8445060020 was superceded by part number 6905795211.

this is for a 1969-1970 ignition on dash...i think it should be the same...these guys here should know

ask cdan?

Dean, I usually just get the later whole switch, and pull the guts from it. I think it's cheaper than the guts alone. There is a trick to it though. Or just use the whole switch and change the ring terminals to spade, or find a later model ignition pigtail.

OK, here's some pictures, I didn't look up the numbers. The switch is from SOR so it must be available from Toyota too. 95% it's the '70-72 switch, for $34. The cylinder will swap, but you need to drill a new hole for the retainer screw to match up with. The pictures show the difference. When you take apart the cylinder, make sure you cover the springs for the tumblers, or you'll be spending the rest of the day searching for them.

Don't know if this will work for this switch, which is what I originally intended, but just used a switch in better shape. ;)

Gonna move this outta classifieds now... :)

Now THAT is cool!!!

I am going to drive down to my local dealer, and see if Johnny's numbers will work. Hopefully, once a new part is found, I'll follow your example, and get her done.

Thanks for taking the time...and for the great photo's
Dean

Thanks Johnny, I'll put that in the part # thread. :D

The good news is that the local dealer has a new parts guy with experience, and he can get it for me, but it will take a few weeks to get here...and it will cost me a little more...around $50.00.
