sweet rig whats it got

I am going to go out on a limb and guess it has:

SOA, SR, DB, FJ62 PS, BOBed 12.5", Propane 1F, Header, H.E.I., 37 X 12.5 X 15 MT/R's, Savanah-heat air freshener...

:D

Strong limb... :flipoff2:

Yeah... This pic is somewhat tricky though. Its been bobbed since this pic. This is the only one I have of it not on its side.

Hmmm...and I feel in my bones that your plans include a SM420....a Toybox...maybe a split case??

Again, correct. I have the SM420, mini-truck case, and split case, just dont have the adapters yet. But those are going to stay in their happy home in my garage

sure you don't want to sell that piggie eventhough? I have a special place in my heart for 55's, and your's is on the right coast.

If you would have asked me a few months ago I very well could have sold her - but she and I had a little discussion and we are on good terms again. You wouldn't like what I would sell her for anyways b/c I've put so much work into her and have a fully rebuilt motor arriving in a week.

Don't rule out flying to a Pig and driving her home. I flew in the middle of winter to the UP of Michigan, picked up my Pig, and drove back to SC in a day and a half. It was an AWESOME trip, CRAZY, but awesome.

I usually see a built Pig come up for sale every month or two for a decent price. Keep your eyes open and you'll find something. I looked for a few months before I found mine - or it found me.

that is a pretty pig what would you have considered selling for just for a bench mark, if you don"t mind me asking

Realize that two Pigs sitting side by side might look similar but be VERY different.

Ex) mine has a 2F with stock tranny, tcase and a Rear auto locker. If you threw in a toybox/Orion or similar and ARBs it would be worth more but look similar from the outside.

I bought my Pig with some new parts that hadn't been installed yet for an OK price but it had rust...a lot of rust. I've worked on that steadily for two years and about have it licked.

My Pig has a professional springover with custom leafs, armored bumpers, rear swingout tire carrier, 8274-50, trac bar, basically all rust cut out and replaced with new sheet, new bucket seats, POR everywhere, MTRs with min 80% tread left, FJ60 knuckles and birfs, I've stripped about half the frame and painted (currently doing the back half), nice fenders, cleaned and painted engine bay, rebuilt steering, new center arm, tons of OEM parts used w/ very little aftermarket, raddle can paint, CB, radio, few other goodies... With the time I put into it (not including the rebuilt 2F) I would not have parted with it for less than 7k MINIMUM before the rebuilt 2F. Now that a rebuilt 2F is going in (next week I hope) and I've done additional work you wouldn't get my Pig from me for less than 12k - BUT - it is not worth that much to a buyer but it is worth more than that to me now that we are on good terms again. A reasonable listing price for my Pig as it sits I think would be 8k and it would probably sell for 7k currently but its not for sale. :grinpimp: Most will probably say those prices are high but I'm proud of my Pig and I've put a ton of work into her. I wanted a Pig for probably 10 years before I bought mine so I'm pretty attached to her.

Your price range of 6-8k is a good area to find a decent Pig that is moderately to well built and not beat up too bad. You will have some rust to deal with.

Can you give any more detail on exactly what you are looking for? SOA vs SUA? 2F vs 350? Stock tcase vs toy box/SM420?

Well said. My pig is currently gutted and not running as I have her apart for power steering upgrade, disc brake upgrade, and all new interior/exterior. I have more than $9k into her in parts and there's no way I would sell her for that much even in current conditions.

Funny how attached we get, eh?

Timm has one for sale

Timm in the clssifieds has a very nice 74 for sale that only needs an engine to be a very nice solid pig.....much better than anyone I started with:hhmm:........pigs are constant works in progress....always something that needs to be done to them; maintenance is the key as you upgrade........think that the best route is to buy a solid one and build it to your specs:steer: just my 0.02 HTH

Yea, I was gonna suggest Timm's too. You could buy a Man-a-fre high-performance motor for ~$4k and have a very respectable rig.

is this true of the running gear of a solid pig with a rebuilt engine im looking at nuclearlemons pig and it looks like a solid rig with no engine problems in the near future, any thoughts? im not looking to get in that deep build up right now though thats something i may be interested in in the future, but right now i want something that has all drive-train and suspension work done
