Welcome RedRobb,
I have been scratching my head bit and for one I see you're in Virginia. Might be worth a call over to Lance at IPOR for many reasons. He may know of or already have his hands on something at his shop and also if you end buying one to build and are not equipped or well versed in building them, he is first class and does excellent work. There are some nicely built pigs on the east coast, question is will the owners part with them. Best advice I have is... be patient....and yes you very likely may have to purchase what you're looking far from Virginia.

is this true of the running gear of a solid pig with a rebuilt engine im looking at nuclearlemons pig and it looks like a solid rig with no engine problems in the near future, any thoughts? im not looking to get in that deep build up right now though thats something i may be interested in in the future, but right now i want something that has all drive-train and suspension work done

Any 30 year old vehicle that you buy for trail use will need constant attention - I'm not talking about engine and axle rebuilds but preventative maintenance and small things will always pop up.

My intention when I bought a Pig was to get one that was mechanically sound and only needed body work. As soon as I got most of the bodywork done the motor went south - but at least it wasn't everything at once.

Just read this thread,
Call Lance or Cam at Ironpig Offroad. They surely know their crap about the 55's. I have one that they have a few hours in and all I can say is amazing! They know what these things can do and are ready to improve them to whatever level you may need.

They were helpful to me through my purchase of my 55 that was sitting outside their shop. But then again Woody (the owner of this sie) happened to be there when I called so he actually answered most of my questions!!! The basterd gets around!!!
