Hello All,

New member, very first post, don't beat me up too bad! I spend a lot of time on other auto forums and find that this is the best place to find answers and a wealth of resources so I am glad to of found this 100-Series forum.

I am looking for a 2000-2003 LC for the wife. I have always loved the look of this vehicle and I feel for our needs this would be a solid choice. Not interested in off road, mods, just a stock 100 that will last us for some good years.

I have found that these trucks are kinda hard to come by, especially if you want one that fits a criteria. You may be asking why 00-03, well that seems to be my price range, plus from what I have read, it's best to start at the 00 model year.

Here is what I am on the hunt for...

Would prefer less than 150K miles
Mechanically sound
Clean non smoker
Darker color is preferred
No mods, stock as possible

Any leads or recommendations please share!

Thanks in advance...

First thing to point out is that this span in years encompass some very big differences - including at cost when you start to look closer.

The best thread to start with this one - Newbie guide to the 100, models, and inspection of a used vehicle (by Slee Off Road)

Which is found here - 100 series LC/LX FAQ and Featured Trucks - Along with lots of other good stuff.

If you are locked in on the 2000-2003 because of their cost point, you will notice a big jump when going from 2002-2003, mainly because of the 5spd. Depending on what kind of driving she is doing (city/hwy) it could make a big difference.

Personally, I stuck to the normal channels (AutoTrader, CraigsList, Ebay, etc) but ultimately found my truck here on Mud. GL.

Lastly, Google is your friend.

I have a '00 that I love but wish it had the 5spd. If you spend drive a lot of hwy miles hold out for one, you'll be glad you did.

The 3spd isn't a dog (esp when using the ECT and OD buttons) but the 5spd is just more civilized.

Thanks guys for the input, I will surely look into newbie guide, as I have already found a wealth of info here just going through threads.

I know this is hard to say without seeing it, but a 2001 with 130K, good interior and exterior condition, and mechanically sound should be in what ball park for price? Seems prices are sort of all over the place.

Thanks again.

Hi Matt!

Welcome to the 100 series forum! Good to see another 90 owner on here! ;-) Don't rule out Lexus as well. Good luck with the search! We definitely have similar tastes in vehicles Lol!

Gery,

I figured there were some D90 folks on here! Good to hear from you. Maybe you can help me with my next question, the reason why I wasn't interested in the LX470 is the air suspension. I don't want to buy a use one and then have to do the AHC repair. I have actually seen a nice 470 I would have been interested in if it wasn't for the AHC. I just figured that would be one less repair to worry about.

Any thoughts?

My '06 Toyota has AHC. I also debated getting one with or without it. I was looking specifically for a '06-'07 100 series and they were hard to find without it. In doing a little research and some test driving, I actually liked the ride better on the AHC ones over the non AHC and not fear the system. I decided not to rule out AHC rigs and focused my search to lower mileage, minimal rust and being well maintained while being in my budget range. I came across mine and it had AHC and decided it was such a great deal it did not deter me from pulling the trigger on it. I'm in the process of a "mild" build. Bigger AT tires installed (275 70 18 GY Duratracs), have an ARB front bumper waiting to get installed and soon to get sliders. I'm pretty confident the AHC will be able to handle the added stress as many here run very similar setups and are doing okay. I am purposely trying to keep the weight addition minimal to prevent "premature" failure while building a nice and capable overland family friendly rig. If it eventually craps out on me, I will probably switch over to conventional lift but I'm hoping to run as long as I can with the AHC. A friend who swapped out his AHC on his Lexus told me he wished he kept his on longer as the ride was so much smoother.

If you don't plan on using your future 100 series for off roading I wouldn't worry about it any more than other potential issues common to older or higher mileage examples. They are so overbuilt coming out of the factory, the AHC just has to be serviced properly as recommended and it should last a very long time (200k + miles).

I bet your wife will like the nicer refinements of the Lexus version over the Toyota 100 series also.
Good luck with your search. I took my time with it and was patient. You will find the right one. Just be ready to pull the trigger, as the good ones go very fast - but you know the drill from seeking out your Defender ;-)!

I have a 2000 LC, it's white with a tan leather interior. It has 153xxx and runs extremely well. The only mods on the truck are the Bilstein shocks, OME rear springs and a TRD Supercharger. The supercharger is an extremely rare find....

It has a new battery (installed last month)4 new tires, brakes (F&R rotors & pads), 4 new shocks, new rear springs, Kenwood Nav, rear seat entertainment, sirrius backseat TV and 3rd row seats. The timing belt, water pump, thermostat, belt, spark plugs and all fluids were changed at 100K.

I live in Annapolis, so I am fairly local. I'm looking for $8,500 (I'm thinking about listing her near $9.9 when I really get motivated), I have not been really trying to sell my 100, but since the 2008 full size Tundra showed up in the driveway last month there has been a little more emphasis on selling her.

I love the truck, and frankly wish I could stash it somewhere (I have 4 cars). She starts, runs and drives like she did on day one. As I said before I wish I could keep her, but with a crew cab Tundra, RX350, an all-wheel drive Audi there's really no room in the stable for her.

I'm feeling like I'm underpricing this rig....

Shoot me a PM if your interested and we'll talk.

John

John thanks for the message, I'm looking for a darker color LC. Sounds like a great deal though!
