Took @RedHeadedStepChild advice signed the wife and I up for this at the whitewater center. I have a conference in Winston next week so I am planning to hike Stone Mountain Wednesday(1/31), and Hanging Rock Saturday(2/3) if anyone is interested.

Fantastic! That's on my birthday too.
A good friend dragged me into signing up for a Spartan. That's they got me off the couch and down 35 lbs.
@pkniland with this thread, you may have single-handedly saved the lives of many ONSCers.
As any of you decide to start playing with diet changes, I found tracking yo be key to my success. It was a PITA st first, but then I got a bit obsessive about it. Tracking it along with exercise became self reinforcing as the more I excerdiced, the more I could eat and still hit my goals. If anyone's interested "Lose it" is a great tracking ap.

My OPINION is that physical activity is the key. The people that I know that are in decent shape are pretty much always on the move. My mother and sister are both over weight and for years have been on me about why I can eat like I do and still keep the weight off. Same answer every time. Get off your butt and do something, anything.

I happen to like filet minion, prime rib, burgers, turkey and chicken. I also like most veggies and LOVE milk. So if it kills me I'll at least be well fed. Judging by that pig you all dote over at big events, I am pretty much eating "healthy". Eating "healthy" has a lot to do with perspective as well, along with the ability to limit portion size. :)

Step away from the buffet table!!!

Hiked a bakers dozen at Crowders today. Did the peak to peak route. Hikeing at Crowders is like hiking at a crowded mall, but at least it’s still hiking. Legs held up well over the 13.2. The squats and deadlifts seem to be paying off.

Got a new go to breakfast bowl: Half a package of smoked salmon, diced red onion, chopped tomato, half an avacado, lemon juice, two eggs scrambled, and some Texas Pete
Watch the sodium in the salmon. Some brands are worse for it but they're all high.

Good point. I gave inherited a trait that both my dad, grandmother, and great grandfather have. We all sweat an abnormally large amount. It was 50 degrees for most of the hike an I sweat through my base layer, my fleece, and my Day pack which has a suspended back. I actually try to have more salt in my diet cause if I don’t I seem to cramp very easily, especially in the summer. My day pack holds 3 liters and I drank them all without having to take a piss, I also had a 24oz hydro flask in the car that I drank when I got done. It can be a bit embarrassing at times, especially in spin class

Anybody have presidents day off and want to go hiking? At the moment, temps look like its going to be in the upper 60's.

Do you use tablets, or bananas and such?
I use tablet
“Chelated Potassium”. ONLY
Go by the Vitamin Shoppe they will have what you need. Ask your Dr. To run a full blood panel. If he will not go to the local LabCorp about $200
If you are on a diuretic Rx for high BP you may have low potassium. Low potsssium has some other interesting side affects.

Nice,
At the moment I am not on any medication. One of my goals is to stay off pills if I can help it.

I’ve been slacking a little the last two weeks so it was nice to get out. Hiked 11 on the Uwharrie Recreation Trail. The trail while nice, gets a bit monotonous. I did see several scout projects Including a nice shelter on top of Little Long Bald built by troop 230 out of Greensboro. Scale shows 253.6

After a pretty productive February, the weather in March sucked. Was able to get out last weekend with the wife and do some hiking. Short little hike to Gragg Prong in Pisgah. Scale is at 250.8
