Serious question that may meet with some derision - but has anybody tried reinforcing the hood on a 70 series so you can stand on it? That was something I always liked about the old Defenders, that you could use it for front access to the top.

Perhaps I’m wrong, but having owned a number of Land Rovers, I recall the fender tops being reinforced to holds ones weight but not the hoods themselves.

Yeah, you’re probably right, I thought I remembered seeing some with a diamond plate panel on the hood too. I figured the fenders on a Landcruiser were definitely not going to happen without extensive custom work, i.e. total replacement with thicker metal & anchors.

Even with the weight of the spare tire, the hood would flex quite a bit. It was always a little unnerving sticking your head in the engine bay knowing the hood and spare tire was only being supported by a slender rod. 😁

Couple options....

First, just use a lighter RPG, so you are not too heavy and might damage the rig.

Or this one. Form and function....

Ens Industrial does but you won't like it.

Looks to me like the walking on the hood thing is a hard no. Without the RPG and combat flipflops anyway.
Oh well, my crazy ideas don’t always pay off, but it’s still fun to check these things out.
