Hey Guys,

I'm making this post to show you my Walbro pusher pump install.

Materials used:

1 - Walbro FRB-22-2 Pusher Pump (Same as FRB-5 only the 22 is a marine grade version and actually costs the same) Purchased from fisheriessuply.com

24" - 3/8" Fuel line. Purchased at Princess Auto

2 - 1/4" MNPT x 3/8" Brass Barb fitting (2 pack) Purchased at Princess Auto

2 - 1/4" Street Elbow Brass fitting (Purchased at Home Depot in Plumbing Section)

2 - 1/2" - 3/4" Hose clamps

2 - 1/4" rubber isolation mounts (Had in my parts bin for a Norton Commando Project)

3" Chunk of Uni-Strut to make as a mounting bracket for the Pump.

I was planning on removing the OEM filter housing and getting a Racor Unit instead but since I still have several filters on hand, I will wait till I use them up first.

Ok so I had 10ft stick of Uni-Strut sitting around in my garage which turned out to be perfect for making a mounting bracket and the idea was to use the shock tower beside the fuel filter as a mounting base. The nice thing about Uni-Strut is that it comes galvanized, so if you don't have any paint kicking around it won't rust away other than the cut ends and where you drill the holes. I chose to paint since I had lots of time to install the unit and I had this nice can of CAT Yellow kicking around from a previous 3412 rebuild at work.

After the Strut bracket was installed I used about 8" of fuel line and hooked it up at the filter housing and the rest of the fuel line I connected to the lower fuel line coming from the fuel tank. This line is a bit smaller ID so I used a little bit of lubricant to help get those hoses over the fuel barbs. Make sure to slide the extra hose clamps on for the final cut and install to the pump side. I found it easier to install the bottom hose to the pump first before bolting to the mouting bracket.

Here are some pics of the completed install sans electrical. If you want more pics let me know and I will try to post them asap.

Curios what is the need for the pusher pump? Is it a common upgrade? I have one on the HDJ81 I purchased and always kinda worried the PO installed it to compensate for a weak injection pump
