I was looking in to all this myself. Called Stealth Conversions and he said they no longer make the 2-pulse vss with Toyota fittings on it. He recommended having the speedo cable cut and having the 7/8" Chevy fittings put on it. Then just ordering their normal 2-pulse vss.

That's an interesting option. I bet a new end could be put on the stock cable to match it to the other side. I'll keep it in mind, but my first thought is to mount it at the back of the speedometer.

Any thoughts about it putting too much strain to run at the far end of the cable? Most seem to be mounted at the transfer case.

I don't have a stock dash or gauges, so I'm not sure. One thing for certain there's very little space between the gauge cluster and firewall. I think 6" of cable plus VSS would be a tight fit.

Cutting the cable and inserting in the middle sounds like a good option.

I wasn’t going to use a six inch cable behind the gauges. I’d just fit the VSS directly to the back of the cluster. It’s all square at that end. Then it’s just joining the housing.
