3 speed 3rd gear popping out of gear (1 Viewer)

1968 FJ40

I have a newly installed rebuilt 3 speed connected to a v8

Test drive reveals 3rd gear keeps popping out. I don’t think it is fully engaged.

Any hope the top plate can be the issue or high/low arm adjustment will help?

The little spring and ball in there to hold it in 3rd? They hide under the top plate, one for each gear if I'm thinking correctly.
