Volunteer 70 series Moderator (1 Viewer)

not high tech. When we log in we get a few drop down boxes. It allows us to delete or move threads to areas that are better suited. Like if someone posts a for sale thread in tech, I can move it to the right area. Or if it's chit chat, I kick it to the chat section.

The thing is, the 7x crowd and diesel crowd are easy going, very polite group. Wanna see asshats go check out the 8x and 100 sections Must be we are more kangaroo and maple syrup eccentric... but who knows we are more international in these areas.

A moderator can be any age. I hope I didn't say they need to be young.. But having time to spend to sort and built threads into FAQ's are good.

The "policing" really is not time consuming. I don't read all the threads. I wait for someone to complain and scan titles for chat or classifieds stuff. I could be more involved and was in the beginning, but honestly so many posts happen and it's not really a moderators job to censure the board. Believe me people report all the things that cross the line, like arguing, racism, etc..

I normally "hang out" in the 70 series section.

I'd be happy to help out on the tech stuff, and do some occasional whip-cracking, but I don't have time on a daily basis to chase down sillyness.

I could share the task with someone else if they wanted to do most of the daily stuff.

For those in the running, this forum (other than chat) is relatively tame. You shouldn't have any issues moderating here. chat would be a whole different story

Try moderating an F-body (Camaro/Firebird) forum, corvette board or any of the hot rod forums. Get's heated pretty quick.
That's what I do now, and it gets pretty interesting at times.

Oh well, the offer was there....looks like you've got enough prospects.

I'm going back to the 60 section where I belong.
