Hi All,

I am visiting my family in AZ during New Years week and want to do some wheeling there. I was born and raised in Mesa and Moved to CO for work purposes 2yrs ago, so I am very familiar with the state. Luckily my parents have a cabin in Payson and that is where we will be staying. I have never run Payette and was thinking, since it is only a couple of miles from their cabin, it could be a good days run. Please offer me any insight about the trail, especially if you think it is to risky to run solo. I will also throw up the final date of the run in the next couple of weeks in case anyone wants to join in.

Thanks in advance for all your input,

David

A little cool for a winter run? But your going to be in Payson anyway, so no issue.

It's a pick your poison type run, relatively wide wash, so you can pick what level of obstacles that you want. As you go further up the creek it gets narrower and obstacles get bigger, there are several bailout points, so you can bail when you have had enough.

Your rig should be set for it, but there are tons of square rock, so your rear arms, drive shaft, etc will be in danger, drive, spot accordingly!:hillbilly:

x2, Payette is also known for taking out sidewalls. Search the pics and you will understand. The rocks are all square and mobile:eek:. I few of us have come out of there driving crooked:hillbilly:. There's plenty of safe play but don't get in over your head. Better yet, post up here, I'm sure you'll get a few nuts to join you.:steer:

alternatively, you could come down to the valley for one of the runs we are planning :bounce:

not we that we have any firm plans set yet

but yes, let this be the announcement that the Germans will be in town

:flipoff2:

I'll be in Payson from the 26th to about the 30th?

Not sure what we're runnin yet.

PD is a trail that is as difficult as you make it but steadily gets more technical as you go til you get to the last waterfall.

Thanks guys, It doesnt sound like I need to worry about it, and the cold, ice or snow doesn't worry me either. I get plenty of that up here. If Payette doesnt work for me I know of some other "secret" trails in the area:D. I worked in Star Valley for a full summer when I had a 40, so I did lots of exploring. Either way, I will post up when I plan on the run an if something is going on down in the Valley maybe I will join in on that also.

Thanks,

I know of some other "secret" trails in the area... I will post up when I plan on the run...

Noted and quoted. :D

Maybe, I'll actually have your old 60 back on the road by then too. Now that would be cool.

That would be cool! I wouldn't mind getting a pic of the two rigs together. I'll let you know when I will be in PHX. I will be in the Peoria/Cave Creek area for a few days also.

These two area's aren't very close to each other? :hhmm:

Make Bman come up to Payson and wheel with ya...... What trails and days are you gonna be up there?

BMAN owns what used to by my 60, which I bought from my Dad and he bought it new in '85 from Scott Toyota. I sold it in '02 to another guy, and BMAN bought it from him. As for trail runs, I am not sure yet, but I am going to be in AZ from 12/27-1/5, so I should be able to get some good wheelin in.

given the current storm and the one coming after that....Payette may be a snow run :frown:

Then you won't really see the obstacles:hhmm:

That might change the look of the trail. :D
