I know how to get in and do the job.

Just confirming that if I remove it. I don’t need to ad any other parts back in to “take up” the new space.

I read a lot of threads. But all the pictures seem to be gone or the links are broken.

Mine is seized and I had no idea that Toyota had copied Land Rover with that stupid idea. No wonder the steering has been so weird feeling.
 
From memory, I don't think you need to add anything else, just remove and go
 
Don’t need to do anything to the TC after removal, clean up the rear cover mating surfaces, apply sealant and button her up. Mine is a 97 so I added the CDL switch at the same time I dumped the seized VC.
 
I have the CDL Switch already installed. It seems to work fine. I can hear the mechanism clicking on and off. I'm not sure if it works in Hi or not. But I'll play around with it once the VC is gone.
