Hi everyone. I've reached the end of my abilities attempting to fix a VGRS issue and now seem to have made the problem worse.

I began having an intermittent VGRS light (solid light) about a month ago. Turning off the truck and restarting would clear the issue for the remainder of the day. The light would be triggered when I'd make a turn close to lock and the steering wheel would be off 90 degrees from center.

Last week, I triggered the light again and it has not since come back off. When I scanned the VGRS module with Techstream, there were two codes stored in the VGRS (C1552 Actuator, C1555 Predriver) and two in ABS/VSC/TRAC (C1231 Steering Angle Sensor, C1290 Zero Point of Steering Sensor). C1555 and C1290 would clear in Techstream, leaving the others remaining.

After reading the TIS documents, I ordered a used VGRS ECU and installed it last night.

Now, I still have C1522 Actuator in the VGRS and C1231 in ABS/VSC/TRAC. Whereas before only the VGRS light was on, now both VSC/TRAC lights are on. Neither code will clear.

On top of this, the automatic door locks no longer work whether from the key fob or from the interior button. The trip odometer and climate settings now reset every time I turn the car off. When the doors are open, none of the interior lights illuminate.

I'm really not sure where to go next with this one... Any advice appreciated.

@cruiserpatch - not sure if you can help. FYI, Patch helped me fix a VGRS issue in a an amazing way.
Thanks for the connection!

Brief update... The 10A fuse for the TRAC/VSC computer was blown which was creating the locking/and TRAC light issues. Those are now solved, however the VGRS light still remains. Steering angle fault has been cleared from TRAC/VSC

C1522 is the sole remaining code within the VGRS system and still unable to be cleared.

Read this whole thread but start with the Toyota service bulletin

If this does not solve your issue then you may need to replace some components of the intermediate steering link. FYI replacing the VGRS computer was unnecessary but it's an extremely common mistake

Also check for the recall snap ring mentioned herein
