I've done a lot, and I mean A LOT of research on the system I wanna put in the 80, the first thing I wanted to find was an amp... After honestly 15 hours of looking into this I came accross Zed Audio... This is honestly the most impressed I've ever been with a product.. Not only do you speak with the man who made the amp but he knows his stuff!

When I really like a company I think it's nice to let people know.. If you find yourself looking for an amp for your 80 give Stephen a try...

You have to admit - researching is most of the fun, huh? I'm like you - I'll pore over specs, reviews, prices, etc and buy the best that I can afford for a resonable price. That looks like a well built PCB there - good choice. And the price seems reasonable as well.

For sure, I was into car audio long ago and haven't looked at anything since, well, since 50 watts was a high power amp... :) But I'm very impressed with that amp and have decided to go with a Sound Splinter RL-p 12" Sub to go with it.. The amp was just under $250 shipped and the sub was just a little less...

I'm just anal, I like quality and know if I look long enough you can find what you want.. Spent a month just looking into those two items.. But hell, took me a year to find a pair of hiking boots that I wanted (cheap plug for AJ Brooks and Meindl boots) so I got off easy this time..

Thanks for the free research :)

I have been casually looking at audio stuff, I cannot afford it right now but plan a decent system in the 80 someday (near the bottom fo an expensive list) . One thing that bugged me was most amps these days are packed full of bling that I don’t want to pay for, I just want a good amp, could care what it looks like and in fact would hide it somewhere never to be seen again just heard from, (can't steal what you cannot see) would rather have the resources go towards the innards.

how is the cooling on those? heat sinks look a little small?

Heat sink is insane, far more mass then you're going to get on any far east imported crap (that includes kicker, hifonics and JL)... I spoke with Stephen when I bought the amp and he was telling me that running it at 1ohm to get the full 600 watts wasn't worth it, 3 times the heat for a 2db gain.. I'm not a kid and don't care about big numbers so I'm running it at a very modest (these days) 400 very unrated watts, that's at 2ohms.. This guy rates his stuff at 12v instead of the 14.4v most rate it at..

Anyway, we're on the same page, I didn't want any bling, chrome, flashing lights or see through junk, just a clean solid amp.. I will say that the features on this amp impress me very much including a sub-sonic filter and 24 db x-overs..

I'll take some pictures when I get things all built the way I want them. Mike at Sound Splinter by the way is a very good guy to deal with.. Honestly, a month of looking for a sub hasn't found me anything better then his RL-p even if I would have been willing to spend twice the price. He has sent me no less then 20 emails just to make sure I was happy as I was a customer that wasn't worth the trouble for the money he was going to make..
