Hello all,

I'm trying to get the factory cruise control to work on my GCC spec Troopy.

So far, I've added the blue wire to the ECU pin 40. I've changed the clock spring to accept the cruise control wire. But the cruise control is not working.

I'm questioning whether the ECU has the drivers for Cruise? The parts catalogues are showing different part numbers for different regions. Could be for emissions and other spec related reasons.

Has anyone tried to make it work? as a retrofit?

I've attached the EWD for the Australian VDJ7x for reference.

@Lo2aY Does your truck have a clutch "cancel" switch on the clutch bucket where the pedal swings from? If not, the ECU might not sense that the clutch "isn't being depressed" and not allow CC to function. When converting my 100 to FTE and H152 I had to add the switch and , lucky for me, the Euro dash harness I used actually had this wire taped off but connected and functional. Once I installed the clutch switch and connected it to the wire harness, my cruise magically worked. Peak underneath your dash at your clutch pedal and see if there is a switch there or not. It might be different than a 100 series but I would imagine would need to be there to function. Hope this helps sir.

The “Autostrada” after market cruise control module requires the clutch safety switch in conjunction with the brake safety switch. I assume the factory setup would be the same.

It doesn't have the switch and I think you are right. I did check with part diagrams but couldn't find it listed for AUS market.

I think this might be the correct switch to use. then need to figure out how to wire the switch.

I have a MTM ECU and an Auto ECU. When I plug in the MTM ECU the dash light does not come on when I press the on/off button on the end of the stalk. When I plug in the Auto ECU the light comes on when the on/off button is pressed.

In a 100 series with HDFTE,
MTM ECUs do NOT support cruise
Auto ECUs do.

This might be a way for you to check if it is in fact the ECU.

Does the light come on when the on/iff button on the end of the stalk is pressed?

No light comes on. But the car in the GCC configuration never had Cruise Control as an option.

I think from a wiring standpoint, everything is now there. But maybe it needs the drivers from the ECU.

So if I swapped the ECU to an Australian market type. I would now have to figure out injectors, emissions and all sorts of different variables that Toyota made for different markets.

I wonder if the VDJ200 with manual transmission ECU would swap over? we do have those cars here. Not sure about the engine/emissions setup on the manual 200s.

These are all good points. I forgot that the injectors for the a VDJs are tied to the ECU which makes swapping them a real PITA. Sorry I couldn’t be more of a help bud.

Hope you get it figured out. Did the GCC ever have VDJ7* trucks equipped with Factory CC?

Thanks. Yea i was hoping to get the O.E.M type working. Its more reliable. but we will see. I didn't abandon the idea yet.

No CC on GCC spec 7x. I think on the 24+ they will be an option for the autos
