I've got a VDJ79 single cab, and need to fit a rear fog light to it as they are compulsory here in the UK. I've found a photo of a LHD truck with a factory fitted rear fog, and also found the part on Partsouq. Now, what I dont know is does the rear fog just fit into an opening in the panel & just screwed through with the screws supplied? Also does anyone know if there is a factory switch for a rear fog for a 2008 79? I can find the correct front fog switch but so far I've not managed to find the front.

Here is a pic of the light fitted to a truck:

Here is the light as shown on Partsouq:

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hello,

I have seen rear fog switches for pre-2010 models. What is the model year of your truck?

Rear fog light installation is plug and play. There should be a connector in the center dash.

You may need a cable to connect the light to the rear harness. Search "cowl cable" in Partsouq.

As for the bed, captive nuts should be there. You may need to drill the plate. Same for the light hole: some cutting may be necessary.

In the Uk the setup is that you can't put the rear fog light on without having the front switched on already, that's if your vehicle has front fog lights as they are not mandatory, where as the rear fog light is.

@JuanJ my truck is a 2008 model

Hello,

If your truck is a 2008 model, it should have the old style dash with the four buttons in the middle, below the heater control.

The switch I mentioned above fits right in there. There is a connector in the harness behind for it.

Six screws and this panel comes out. Make sure you remove the ash tray before pulling it. Look for the connector in the harness. Remove one of the covers and slide the switch in the hole. Plug your switch in. Connect the rear light. Function test. If it works, reassemble.

Fog lights work when the park lights switch is on.

Hope this helps.

Thanks @JuanJ do you know what the part number is for the switch? You are correct I have the dash you describe, and at present the only switch below the heater controls is for the sub fuel tank, with 3 other blanks. I have had that part of the dash out before and did notice a couple of unused plugs in the factory loom, and I hoped they would be for fog lights. Also at the rear I have found an unused 2 pin plug, which I also hoped to be for the fog light but have not proven this yet. Maybe a similar setup exists for the front fogs? My truck is an Australian import, basic Workmate spec.

Hello,

The part number you found for the rear switch is correct.

One of the unused plugs is for the fog lights. So should be the plug you found at the rear.

Hi Juan, thanks once more for your help. I'll order the parts and update the thread once fitted.

Ok so the parts mentioned above were delivered & I pulled the lower dash apart to access the spare connectors. The front fog switch connects to one of the spares, and when I switch the front fogs one it illuminates the symbol on the dash cluster as per the pic below.

The rear fog switch doesn't match up to any of the remaining spare connectors. Here is the back of the fog switches, front on the right, rear on the left.

And here are the remaining spare connectors in the vicinity of the switch location.

I think one of those is for a clock? But what about the others? I was thinking maybe I need some adaptor to go in between the rear fog switch and one of those spare connectors, maybe that isn't the case. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey a bit of an old thread now, but just wondering did you ever suss it out with the fog light and switches? I retrofitted a separate harness and switch when I first imported mine without thinking I could potentially plug and play but if I can I will cos my current fog lamp and switch is abit naff
