I'm pretty sure my valves need adjusted on my f135. My in cab vacuum gauge is bouncing from 15 -20 and it has a miss. Cylinder one has no change when i pull the spark plug cable either. IS this the correct diagnosis? other than the missing and tiny bit of power loss everything seems to be functioning fine. Give me a heads up if you think it may be more then at least I won't be so surprised if it snowballs into something bigger. Also I seem to have misplaced my FSM if someone could post up the clearances for intake and exhaust that would be awesome thanks.

it looks like the late valve timing on the bottom link but my vacuum is set higher. It's a constant bounce between 20 and 15. and remains steady when I accelerate.

Valve timing is set by the camshaft grind and is not adjustable without changing the cam.

well the cam is pretty much brand new. s*** I'm just going to adjust the valves and see if it runs right again.

So this is your new F135 engine you built, correct?

How many miles do you have on this engine since it was put into service?

When was the last time you adjusted the valves?

I adjusted the valves mid summer last year. The engine has probably 12000 k on it but the cam has less than that probably about 2-3 k. I'm hopefully going to pick up a 74 f engine. I'll keep this incase i need to sell it with the original in it.

Ok,

So since you installed the new camshaft, how many times have you adjusted the valves?

I think twice once upon installation and warm up, the second last summer. I'll definately go through my cap and rotor as well as fuel filter to make sure everything is tip top again.

changed my fuel filter, checked my valves they werent too out of adjustment. sanded the rotor and cap. still is missing, vacuum is ticking 17 to 20 inches matching misses. Any ideas?

Is the plug actually firing? Pull the coil wire off so the truck won't start, remove the #1 spark plug, ground it and crank the truck. If it sparks it's good.

Next if you have the tool, run a compression check on the cylinder.

its weird it seems to be ok when i accelerate but at idle it jumps, my points look ok but my condensor is on the outside of the dizzy, how can i tell if it is bad? I'm getting spark to each plug. It seems as if the miss has traveled to the #2 cylinder now. It's really weird any tips or guesses would be awesome right about now, I'm starting to get frustrated it seems like it should be something simple.

It is possible for a plug to spark in free air but not spark under compression, substitute in a good or new plug.

Change your spark plugs and your wire set....

If you do not start isolating things, you will be chasing your tail until you finally break down and do so.

I got it running better, I swapped out the spark plug and it seems to have helped a bit. I will buy a new set of plugs today. oh and by the way the compression is at about 115 lbs in the #2 cylinder. what Napa brand plugs do you guys recommend?
