vacuum tubing

I'm planning on putting new vacuum tubing throughout my engine bay and was wondering 1) what is and where can I purchase the best tubing and 2) what size(s) do I need. Thanks.

Depends on what you want to spend..
OEM sizes are 3mm and 6mm ID, but for the 6mm 5mm will work just fine. You can still get OEM lines from Toyota by the foot or by the specific line but they are $$$. When I did my desmog I bought from Boostcontroller.com on the recommendation of @reevesci and a few others. You can also use the McMaster-Carr stuff, plenty of threads floating around with the right p/n.

One recommendation, get yourself a good, sharp exacto knife. Some of the plastic nipples and what not on these pieces can break very easily. Use the exacto to cut the line first at the nipple and then peel the line off. Will save you some heart ache.

McMaster Carr even sells different colored tubing, I went with the blue.

The attached PDF shows vacuum tube diagrams for the FJ60 from various sources. The first diagram is from the parts catalog and it shows the vacuum tubing part numbers and the "cut to" length. In general Toyota does not sell tubing by the foot, but individual pieces. Because there are so many different sizes of vacuum tubes, they made three or four different lengths that you cut to the length specified (eg. L=50 means cut to 50mm length). You can purchase the longest tube from Toyota, part number 95411-19995, and cut it to any length you want. I think this tube is about 3' long (950mm or something like that) and costs around $3, and you would need about 15 total pieces for the whole truck. You can check with Toyota, but I think the shorter tubes are actually more expensive.

Unless you want to keep the tubing OEM, it's probably easier to purchase bulk silicone tubing from another vendor.
