Does anyone have experience with the cheap little vacuum pump from Harbor Freight? I want to do my A/C here pretty soon and would like to vac the system down and hold it for a little while to make sure that there are no leaks.

EDIT:

I guess that it is not really a pump. It has no moving parts so I think that it can't be too bad. I'll get one and post up if it sucks bad or not.

Are you looking for an onboard penis plumper?:D

Why do you want a vacuum pump.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<there, is that better?

So that I can remove moisture and test if my A/C system in my FJ62 will hold pressure. I bought one, but I have yet to try it out. It is a small little thing though. I'll update when I use it.

EDIT:
I bought a dryer also, but I want to dry the system before I install it.

Didn't mean to be flip, so sorry for that. A/C will always perform better with all moisture removed. I've just never used A/C and LandCruiser in the same sentence:frown:;)

Me either, but this year I have the parts to fix it and charge it up (Freeze12). I can't wait! It should make the camping trips much more enjoyable.

I tried it out last night. You will need a pretty high volume compressor. I have a two cylinder single stage that kept up with it pretty good. It didn't run constantly, but it did cycle a lot. It was able to suck down to about 25 in hg.

The bad news I think is that it did not come with any hoses, they will need to be purchased separate.

I got this same pump and am going to use it but first looking for an air compressor. I figured if this pump would get the job done since I would not need it a lot then it would be better to put the money into a air compressor then spending $90-150 for a decent vacuum pump.

Get a good one. I don't think a single cylinder would keep up with it, but maybe. Mine is a 5hp two cylinder on a 10-15 gallon tank (I think, I'm not positive).
