So I have the FSM and have seen the vacuum line diagram. A buddy who is a mechanic and I cannot seem to figure out what the highlighted vacuum line is for. This is the last "issue" I am confronted with before I take the rig back in for a smog. I didnt see if before because it was wedged up under the air cleaner and it is plugged with a golf tee (PO apparently have a few extra tees lying around to plug vac lines)

Anyone know what the deal is with this?

Thanks!

Where is it stopping/attached to on the right? That doesn't look right at all.

Its plugged with a golf tee now. It was wedged up pretty snug under the air cleaner. Its a much fatter line than the majority of the vac lines. I dont think its legit, but need to make sure, or get suggestions on how to simplify the mess to the left where this line originates.

Here's mine from a while ago. I'm pretty sure it's accurate, but I can't verify it till Friday when I get home and there is still light outside.

Looks like you might not have the correct distributor cap on it. The correct one has one(maybe two) vent holes where those vacuum lines attach to. I think they keep it dry or something like that.

Thanks man! Would be cool to see under the cover on your distributor, too. This pic is a great help.

As far as the distributor goes, I got it from Georg at Valley Hybrids, so as far as I am concerned, its correct. I also bought new cap and rotor for my year and model and these ones installed matched the old ones identically. I agree, it does look a bit different than others out there, but I think this one is correct.... :D

Hmm, interesting for sure. Maybe someone else can post up what it's supposed to look like.:hhmm:

Edit: It looks like you do have the correct one. I see the vacuum line going from the top of the dist cap and to the left, out of sight. Where is it hooked up to?

x2 that line goes to one of the two ports on the dist cap.

Terrible I cant recall exactly where I read it, either here on mud or in the FSM, that one of the 2 vent ports in the top of the cap goes to a line that has a filter ( I believe ) in the firewall. That is the one line that goes to the left out of the picture. I think its possible that this rogue vac line that is plugged goes to the other vent on the dist cap?

Without looking at how my 60 has these lines routed, or looking at the FSM, it's hard to say where it goes. I'm sure someone can tell you before I have the opportunity to check mine out.

Good luck!

Oh, btw, CA Smog checks SUCK! :flipoff2:

There are three hard lines in front of the valve cover that point to the pass side. The lower two go to the dist vac advance. The upper most just below the check valve is the one it hooks up to. Try searching for distributor vent system.

Your image doesn't make sense. Where does it (green) go?
"JLH911" image looks quite right.

The T-off is correct however.
The small line from that VCV should go to the "gas filter" port on the manifold.

However, in your pic Looks more a vac adv line.
Two vac lines goes to the dual vac adv on the dissy.
The one with VTV (blue side toward dissy) goes to the primary vac adv port which is the inner/closer to dissy)
The other to the secondary.

A better pic would help!
PM me, I'm in the East Bay too! Just passed smog!

the routing can be seen in both these diagrams: the parts diagram and the emissions schematic that should be pasted to your drivers side inner fender

I had a routing issue related to gas smell, I believe the to firewall hose get "fresh air" from the cabin, while the other hose goes to the intake for combustion- I was told its to avoid explosions in the dizzy due to possible gas fumes.
