Hey Mud!!
For the past few months I have been tackling hurdles to be able to adapt my LX470 puddle lights into the ultimate 100 series rock lights. It wasn't easy by any stretch but its finally done! I sent a prototype kit to @TheForger last week and he was awesome enough to tackle it over the weekend. I had my fingers crossed that he didn't have any issues with the kit, and luckily he said it was all straight forward and he now has switchable and automatic (doors and key fob) lighting. He can chime in with some better first hand customer perspective.
Because I do this on the side for fun and a small profit, I'm going to do the next run as a preorder. This will allow me to know how much product I need to buy and not overdo it leaving me with excess product and lost money. I have 30 preorders available currently, but will add more as build kits.
Here are the details from my website:
THIS IS A PREORDER. ALL ORDERS SHOULD SHIP IN 4-6 WEEKS FROM ORDER DATE. PREORDERS ARE LIMITED.
Introducing the newly improved V.2 - 100 Series Land Cruiser Rock lights. These lights illuminate below the doors and make seeing puddles or obstacles on and off the road easy. They can be set up to activate with the doors and/or by a switch. They are also great for helping light up camp and for seeing underneath during a breakdown (but these are Toyotas, we know that doesn't happen).
These are now designed for both the 1998-2007 LX470 and Land Cruiser!
Product highlights:
*** All models (unless only utilizing plug-and-play feature for LX470) require you to provide your own wiring from a fused power source. If manual switching is desired, a switch and all its wiring must also be provided.
*** All Toyota Land Cruiser models require a nutsert tool for installation of included nutserts into the frame (Tool available online and in many tool supply stores).
*** All Lexus LX470 models require AHC hardware that holds/held the accumulators/globes in place.
*** Some late models (1998-1999) only allow the lights to turn on with the doors while other models will turn on when the doors are unlocked via the key fob. To verify which you have, set your dome light to "door" and see if it comes on with the when the doors are unlocked with the key fob or if it only comes on when opening the doors.
***Tapping into the dome light circuit is required for all installations above plug-and-play in the LX470. There is always a risk when connecting wires to the factory harness. Please do so at your own risk.
The installation directions are posted on my website: Instructions
Please read through them prior to purchasing to make sure you are comfortable with the installation and the inherent risk to tapping into your factory wiring harness.
As always, thanks so much for your guys support!! I love doing this stuff on the side and maybe one day I'll have enough products to make it a full time gig. I'll do my best to answer any questions you may have on here. Feel free to email me at owlexpeiditon1@gmail.com if you prefer though.
I almost forgot two things.
1. If you preorder and decide you don't want to wait any longer or just want out, I will refund your money entirely as long as it's before the kit has shipped.
2. For my faithful first customers, I will give you a hefty discount on the parts you're missing to make yours work as V.2 for a limited time. Contact me through email at owlexpedition1@gmail.com for a coupon code to buy the remainder of the kit.
Also, I was able to maintain the fade on/off if your dome light has that feature. I believe 2000-2002 are instant on and fade off and 2003+ fade on and off. Don't quote me on that as I'm still figuring out the small differences in each year.
