I’m on V1, but I love these lights! I’ve gotten many compliments and a set for the wife’s rig soon to be installed. Great work, Rami!

Love all of the time you have put into this and that wiring harness is great.... I will be ordering but have a question.

How many amps are the relays rated for? Saw solid state but there seems to be some variation and I can’t tell is these are standard 5 pin in a dual configuration or some off the shelf doohickey that does the magic. I only asked because it would be nice to wire another light to under the tail gate maybe a separate switch or maybe not. Of course as bright as these things are it might not be necessary?

They're in a dual configuration. The mechanical relay is rated at 12v-30amps. The solid state equates to about twice that, so about 30 would be the limit. These lights really light up the entire permitier of the truck. You could add front and rear lights too, but I personally don't think it's necessary.

Ordered!

My wife is excited about her new “puddle” lights... I am excited to be able to light up around the Land Cruiser when setting up camp. I may not ever actually need then as rock lights, but all of the other uses are making this purchase a no-brained.

Interested but question for those with the V1 or V2 lights...how do they fare with dirt/grime/buildup on them over time? Do they get easily covered in grime and diminish light output or do they stay fairly clean with the brackets blocking most of it?

They do get a slight coating of road grime on them overtime, but it basically has little to no effect on the light output. It just snowed here so the salt/sand did buildup a bit on the light (keep in mind I said it built up, not trapped; these don't seem to trap and hold any water/mud/dirt anywhere), but the light output has remained the same for me. I'm yet to do any serious offroading where they could potentially be completely covered in mud, but I think the only thing that would cause diminished output would be sinking your truck frame deep in mud. But then you would have worse problems to deal with. Basically it acts the same as a light bar on the front of your truck - yes it's going to get dirty, but unless it's completely caked in mud then the light output doesn't drastically change.

for anyone interested in switches... I have on of these coming in the mail, supposedly it should fit in the factory switch holes.

Hey @Ramathorn15 I’m struggling to get the lights to turn on, when the doors open, on my 99 LC. Tapped the green w/ white stripe and silver dots where it goes up through the a pillar (easier access)

lights turn on with switch perfectly!

Hmm. I can't comment on the pillar, as I've never tapped the wire up there. To rule out the relays, try removing the wire from the tap and grounding it to a good ground. If the lights turn on, then the wire you tapped isn't grounding with the dome.

It's either that or the tap didn't make it all the way through the insulation.

Let me know what you come up with.

Awesome thank you sir. I shall give it a go in the morning, already gave up and started drinking for the night. I swear, the second a relay is involved my brain turns into mush.

i’ll report back tomorrow

interested in getting a set of these, the webstore says sold out, and I don't see a link to another thread as mentioned above...

So, no luck grounding the black tap wire elsewhere, still no trigger. Got another idea?

Success! So, through my fight with the wire tap under the console, I managed to inadvertently unplug one of the ground pins from the solid state relay... I stared at this thing for no less the three hours, checking connections and finally go back to to relay aaaaaaaaaand not connected. so, moral of the story, electron wrangling is not my sport.

I can also confirm that on my '99 LC, tapping the green wire with white stripe and silver dots, in the A pillar (as show in the photo below) will work. It requires lengthening the wire that comes on the harness but it is a hell of a lot easier to get access too. Pinching that tap to puncture the sleeve without pliers is tough, doing it in the a pillar I could use pliers.

@Ramathorn15 please tell me these are still available. The website says they are sold out.

The new diy design is almost done. They will be back in stock in the next couple of weeks!

Are these the only ones on the market?

There are some other options, but these are the only ones that bolt to the frame using high quality stainless brackets. The new design will also be much cheaper and allow the user to chose the quality level of the light they want.
