I'd verify the timing with a timing light (which I assume you have not done) as you're unlikely to get it correct just putting things together. Then, you should know that the engine won't idle correctly (usually very low - 400rpm) until the engine computer has rebuilt its defaults - several minutes of running at a minimum.

Nice job. Tomorrow will bring fresh perspective.

What he said.

Once the ecm memory has been lost, it'll take a bit to restore all the proper settings, and in the meantime the engine runs kinda rough.

Drive it around a little bit and it should smooth out a lot.

Congratulations!

x2 on what Doug said.

My truck recently sat for a week with the battery negative disconnected, and when I hooked it back up it did not want to stay running (kept dieing). After running it a while, it's fine now.

Truck is running pretty well now. So happy to have it moved to my recently completed, side of the house, RV parking.

I've got a timing light lined up and will check things once I get back from NY.

I can't tell you how happy I am to have the 80 running again. Thanks for all the help.

Maiden freeway voyage today. Truck drove really well.

Yesterday I did the timing and did a trans drain/fill while I was at it.

The only problem I have is the P-D-2-L don't light up on the instrument panel. N lights up fine.
