Use CV in front driveshaft?

Using a FJ60 CV driveshaft in front of a FJ40.
I have read thru and seen where it has been done before but often it seems.

Is there any down side to doing so?
4" lift, split TC & when doing the cut & turn will angle the Pinion up for the CV, so that's not an issue.
Puting the FJ80 type long spline yoke kit in front DS.

I know it's really not needed, but if I have a FJ60 front CV DS, may as well if there isn't an issue doing so.

Using an 80'-84' FJ60 front CV driveshaft lengthened (frame stretched 12") for the the rear.

Dont know if I understand your question but im using 60 shafts in my 40 build. Front in the rear rear in the front but I got double cardans put in on both. My 40 had a different flange at the xfer and the 60 flanges didnt match up but the splines were the same at the slip so I mixed and matched and got it to fit. Im using 60 axles btw and I stretched the front 5 inches and the rear 4.

its is all about the angle of the joints. Single u joints and double cv each have applications they preform best at. Im not sure what what angle each joint falls into right now, but I would only go to a cv if I couldnt get a single to work because of operating angle. thats less wieght on the front transfer case output and cheaper to mantain in the long run. That said i run a 60s double joint up front in mine because it was binding at full droop but Im far from stock now
 
That makes sense, the front DS is short so the DC is going to be a help.
But in the rear, I guess there isn't really any need especially with 12" more length DS.
And a set of single Ujoints would be lighter, cheaper & prob more importantly simpler for repair & mantinance.

One other question, do FJ60/62 & late FJ40 rear DS slip joint & yokes have the same travel?

I think they do but measure just in case. Another advantage of dc is less vibrations if youre above stock height. Im sprung over in the rear and have coils and radius arms up front that are soa height.

another reson for the cv style is the cross member if you look its realy close to the dshaft w/o a cv at droop it hits blazers arwe the same way cvs also take the angle and cut it in halfe per ujoint so at 20 degreeas the h yoke u-joints both take 10 degrees witch makes less wear if youre runing lifts its highly rercomended that u run cv's there 250.00 at maestro muffler and driveline at 602 997 0906 ask for ron
