Hi,

Doing my valve cover gasket and want to remove the upper intake plenum to r&r fuel filter etc.

I have a handful of front bolts that are accessible removed, but am having access issues with the rear ones.

Are the others best accessed from below the vehicle?

Any tips or tricks?

From underneath with a LONGGGGGG 3/8 extension and a couple of short wobbler extensions.
Its helps to have a partner up top to help steer the assembly onto the fastners.

Been there, bitched at that.

Take the front wheel off so you can see what you're doing. And use losts of bits between the ratchet and socket.

Thank you both, that helps a lot! I'm confident that I can get it now.

It's only bad the first three times you do it

Thanks, all.

By removing the wheel, and using the long extensions and a universal joint as you told me, I had the three remaining fasteners (one long bolt and two nuts) out in less than ten minutes.

This little thing from MotiveX that has a spring loaded flex joint made it easy to do solo. It came in a set if three sizes and was silly expensive (Christmas gift), but is so much better than other ways of making a regular one less floppy (o-rings, electrical tape, etc.).

Thank you!

Yup, that's about the right length....Downright comical isn't it.

A little late to the party but for future reference when I couldn't find the nuts at the rear of the intake when looking up from below I dabbed yellow marking paint on them (reaching down from above using a finger with wet paint on it) then from below using a bright light was able to locate them. IME they're further back then you think when trying to locate (see) them when working from below.

Similar to above I used an extra long 3/8" drive extension bar (?22") along with another bar with a taped universal joint IIRC.

FWIW
