Yea, never seen or had anyone suggest 8.5qt before. I am assuming it's suggesting 1/2qt in the filter itself? Either way, I'll continue to put 7.9-8qt in mine every OCI.

I checked my downloaded manual as well as my printed manual in the glove box. Both say 8.5 qts with filter, and my dipstick reads normal doing just that. Do other people's manuals specify differently? Honest question.

I put all oil in the oil fill port, none added to the filter.

I always change my own oil. Reads perfect on the dipstick.

My Owner's Manual says 7.9 qts w/ filter:

This is all I have ever seen.

What year/model is your LC200???

2020 U.S. Spec 5.7L straight from the owners manual.

I never add what’s recommended, I’m assuming there is a residual amount left behind. I fill until it’s full on the stick and run it for a few minutes then check again 20 min or so later after I clean stuff up. I fill the filter as well, idk if it fills as you fill from the oil fill but the split second it would take to fill it when cold starting is just not something I care to allow.

@colacola your dipstick situation is very unusual. My only thought would be that the dipstick isn’t fully seated? That or the dipstick tube isn’t fully open in the pan… like there is just a cutaway that exposes one side of the stick. I’ve never seen the pan off so idk.

The early trucks, pre-2011, specify 7.4 quarts. Good luck to all 🙃

This is pretty wild on the 2020 to 2021 difference.

So does everyone show same level both sides of your dipstick? I have never had this with other Toyota/

thank you for your input on that ….only dipstick I have ever had do this (have had two Tundras, & own a 4runner, gx460 also). Only this 2019 LC200 reads like this.

This isn't completely abnormal as I remember reading somewhere there are two different dipsticks for the LC200/LX570. One has a green dot and one has a blue dot. That would give credence to there being a different size oil pan.

I don't find it all that odd over the course of 14 years of the 200 series but a change the very last year of the series is weird IMHO.

Difference between dip sticks was due to the presence/absence of an oil cooler above the oil filter housing.

My understanding is the dip stick with the dot was for engines with the oil cooler above the filter housing - no dot was for engines without the oil cooler above the filter housing. So.. difference was dot/no dot - I have no recollection of a green dot/blue dot difference...

FYI
