Make the night into day.

Cost $10 on ebay but ship from Hong Kong ~3wks and are waterproof.
Wire is finest I have ever seen, must be about 28 gauge.
Put a 5amp fuse and rotor switch inline. Only one wire needed from batter to light and a short wire with self tapping screw for ground. I can post pics if someone does not understand.(Or just use fuse as on and off)
Lights come with 3M tape on back, but added a thin line of Gorilla Glue before sticking. There is a perfect area to stick them so they shine right on motor.
Installation took about 20 mins.

Ebay item # 190927445937 (put in search box and item will pull up)

Side Note: I purchased Chinese LEDs for under cabinet lighting about 3 yrs ago and they are about 30% as bright as new, although all are working.
These underhood LEDs might be on for 30mins a year, but like AAA handy to have the one time needed.

I'd be willing to answer any relevant questions.

Do you think it would light up as bright if you had an OEM hood pad on there?

Not sure I understand your question but I'm about 99% sure that that the fiber pad on that hood underside is Toyota.

On my phone it looks like you don't have the pad installed. If I enlarge it I can see that it IS there. My bad.

I need to do something similar but with warm white LED strip.

Those from Super Bright are $30, but the one I posted is about ~$5 a set.
The ones I posted are so cheap that you could buy 2 and throw out the 1st set when they failed.

Pics of the switch?
I just use the Fuse as the switch now.
Keeping it simple as rotary switch worked when it wanted.
Plus less chance of a short.

The SuperBrightLEDs strips are $25, not $30. And Alia176 said he wanted warm white in a strip. The ebay ones are cool white in two 7" bars.

You need light at night to get the burritos out of the engine heating rack.

Beat me to it! The burrito or the ham and cheese croissant after a morning of driving to the ski slopes.

:D

Under hood lights why?
I see no need to open my hood in the dark or when im away from the house.
you know how unreliable these rigs can be...

this might be a good mod for the land rover or alfa romeo crowd...

I need another one for the arb bumper, over the winch. It'll be handy for these night time snow recovery winching sessions!!

Glad yours uses and leaks no oil ;) and you fill the Washer Fluid from inside.

Glad SuperbrightLEDs ships for free, but they did not when I recently ordered LED turn signal relay.
They do occasionally offer 10% off, but that would only be a $2.50 savings.
