should have just traded what's his name's with the hood scoop.

Waggoner5 is whats his name...

thanks, i was too lazy to look.

I don't want to knock hard work but that doesn't look very fxnal or attractive. But to each their own...

What I've thought about is to remove the directionals underneath the headlamps since you've now got some on the ARB and use those holes and intake ducts routed into the engine bay and then attach some side vents along the trailing edge of the front fenders like the 60/62-series have. You could add some small electric fans behind your front ducts to assist in air movement as well. Some one hand me a sawzall...

I think its more attractive than the hood scoop the PO put on my 80, and you wouldn't believe the amount of serious hot air coming out when the engine is running. It dropped the oil temp and water temp considerably.

I bet it did! People don't realise how much radiant cooling helps keep an engine's temp down. Most think it's the sole job of the cooling system.

It's not how I'd have layed them out but an added benefit to that layout is reduced glare from the hood when driving into the sun.

A nice test would be to cover the hood with a heavy blanket and take some temp readings while idling and then again with the blanket removed.

I haven't replaced it yet, because I am not sure if its needed for other than noise at this point. The truck has an LT1 and now at 95 degrees outside, you can actually touch the hood. Before you could not even get close. The drivers side fender is cool also.

Every modern car I know of has a seal between the hood and firewall. I can think of a few reasons why, and I know some guys remove this seal and raise the back of the hood for better cooling. There's a bit of a high-pressure area in front of the windshield at high speeds, but it seems like the best place to vent the engine compartment at low speeds where it really matters. The times I blew oil and coolant lines I would've noticed a lot quicker. Maybe you could combine vents and hood tach or other instruments. Bling!
